Rock Band Network production company -- er, "dude" -- Kario Charts will test the staying power of last summer's Bed Intruder meme when he releases "Bed Intruder Song" on the service in the coming days. Kario has uploaded a video preview of the Rock Band build on YouTube (sing along after the break), confirming on the Rock Band Forums that he "signed" the song's creator, The Gregory Brothers, to a contract back in December (he also has the rights to create an RBN version of the group's "Double Rainbow" ditty).
The untimely delay of "Bed Intruder Song" on RBN is due in part to the integration of Rock Band 3 Pro Keys charting, and Kario continues to make tweaks to the track based on feedback in the forums. RBN members will be able to playtest the song at the end of the week, when Kario plans to upload it for the first time.
Kario has also teased RBN releases of other viral virtuosos' works, including Ronald Jenkees' "Throwing Fire" ("Guitar Sound" is already available) and a collection of guitarist Erik Mongrain's songs, featuring "AirTap!"
@bxgt Exactly what I was going to say, but Joystiq's terrible password reset function cockblocked me from being able to post this before you. Really? Hit the "recover password" button to have it send you an email saying "that is not how you recover your password anymore" with a new link? dumb.
I haven't really heard anything else about him in months. So I don't think he's really just riding it out, I think it's pretty much rode out. He did release some album months ago, but I'm sure it did nothing. Whenever I heard him talk he always seemed gracious and acknowledged that he didn't really do much, and he's lucky to have this happen to him. So I'm wouldn't play him off as a media whore.
Yeah, he actually used his 15 minutes of fame to his advantage & did what he had to do to get him & his family out of the projects instead of blowing it like most people would do. It just so happens that he was able to get endorsement deals as well like a sex-offender app for iphone & android among other things so he'll be set for a good while. Good on him.
People made fun of this guy, but he was freaking out. Someone broke into his house and performed attempted rape. Sure, he overreacted, but now he's famous and he moved out of the ghetto. Major props.
Unfortunately, the only way it's guaranteed to be available on PS3 is if tons of people download it and rate it favorably so that its porting to the PS3 can be justified. A lot of the Rock Band Network stuff available on PS3 seems to be insanely tough metal songs (accompanied by a sprinkling of Jonathon Coulton tracks), and while I loves me some metal, I can't play that all day. But that's (mostly) all I get to choose from, because not everything gets ported.
I wish more people were rating these songs based on criteria other than "Is it metal?" and "Does it make my hand seize up like an epileptic spider?"
This is bi-winning! Now we just need some Sheen to sing along with and I'll be off to buy Rock Band 3. They could call it "Rock Band: Sing-along with Charlie edition".
That would be epic of Rick Astley was put in Rock Band.
