Mafia 2: Director's Cut revealed by Amazon
28
Some compelling evidence that we just can't fuhgeddabout has surfaced over on Amazon, suggesting a re-release of Mafia 2 impends. As you can see in the cover art above, Mafia 2: Director's Cut for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 includes the original game and some additional DLC: three story packs and four car and clothes packs.
The story packs are most likely Joe's Adventures, Jimmy's Vendetta and The Betrayal of Jimmy, while the car and clothes packs sound like those retailer pre-order exclusives that were later offered separately. We've contacted 2K Games for comment.

Guess it didn't win any Game of the Year awards, or it would be called the Game of the Year Edition

Ooh, is this the edition where they put the fun parts back in?

Good game, I enjoyed it, but it could be a lot better.

@Shadsy Making this game better would require starting from scratch...

Sweet, looks like ima buy it on PS3 when it gets to $20 after all
I bought it on PC for $10 at the steam sale.. so I get the good version, and the crap version for trophies + additional content. ^^

I guess the theory is that this will convince people to buy it now?

Glad I waited. Knew that games with lots of DLCs will eventually and usually get a compilation version.

But...that's not a director's cut. THAT'S NOT A DIRECTOR'S CUT AT ALL!!!

Great game. Couldn't understand the low scores, considering L.A Noire will follow the same linear, yet set in a open world approach like Mafia did, but will probably get numerous GOTY awards in the process. Sad. Sure, there were flaws, but compared to all the DUDEBRO fps games we get, mafia 2 seemed to be a nice change of pace. It had a really good narrative, and a beautiful city to boot.
Would really hope 2K Czech make Mafia 3, because this series has definite potential.

The words "Director's Cut" are misused and out of place. It does the opposite of lending a touch of class to the re-release (which was the intended point).

@eat it
I don't, but dollars to cheeseburgers says this is just a marketing ploy. All the DLC in one tidy GOTY edition calling itself a 'director's cut'. The actual game mechanics will be untouched.

This game was such a joke. Had a good story and decent gameplay but didn't even come close to living up to the hype. 2K really pissed me off on this one, could have easily been close to a GOTY if they weren't greedy.

Good game! Well worth the $25 I paid for it.
It did leave me somewhat hungry for more when I beat it, but based on the reviews I passed on the DLC.

Would the "Director" have added something to do in the city besides the same 8 stores to rob over and over?
(Apologies to fans of this one. This is the only game I have regretted buying in the past year).

The DLC for the game pales in comparison to the main game. It was truly a let-down.

I knew I made a good call when holding out on this game until one of these DLC-including editions were released :)

I got this for $30 last year and its worth the money that I spent getting it on sale. I don't regret buying it as it reminds me alot of The Godfather. This Director's Cut is good for those who want all the DLC and preorder bonuses on the disc. I really hope 2K releases the DLC for those of us who don't want to rebuy this game.
