Patch coming for Crysis 2 PC multiplayer key issues, workaround detailed
27
Crytek is working to release a Crysis 2 patch to correct two errors associated with multiplayer activation keys for the PC version of the game, a representative confirmed on the game's official MyCrysis Forums. In the meantime, the developer has laid out a workaround intended to side-step both users' inability to save their keys in the system (and thus forcing would-be players to re-enter the codes) and the erroneous error that claims, "Serial number in use." It's a three-step move, to be precise:

What a botched launch.
Homefront was broken since the beginning and now Crysis 2. Time to buy a console!

@(Unverified) Not sure why the hate, pc gaming is essentially MMO gaming since they cant get it write on consoles. Face the facts guys, more and more games are being made for consoles and ported to pc. In an economy where people cant drop 250 bucks for top of the line (at the moment) graphics cards every year, its just economical to buy a console for gaming.

Now if only they fix the broken servers. I love waiting in ranked server lobbies.

Why am I not surprised another pc port has a serious issue that requires a patch at launch, and for multiplayer, no less.

Because you need to remember something, companies don´t pay beta testers anymore, for them their customers are beta-testers, they get the money and you pay for checking their game, and after 6-8 months they´ll finally have a real working game. Well, guess is time to wait 8 months before ever considering buying crysis 2. :P

A lot of people on University networks also can't log in at all, as we get network errors. This isn't the result of some insane firewall either, since I can play any other online game. Luckily, I can still enjoy the campaign while I wait for a fix.

What's sad is that I banished my Steam CD key popup, so now if I want to go through this process I have to either (a)alt-tab between the game and my key or (b) write it down. Neither of those are much fun. If Crysis 2 let you paste in the key, that'd be another matter. /le sigh
And while I'm at it, the lack of quicksave really kills my experimentation. I like saving after I've planned my attacks and gotten in position, but before I attempt to execute it. Having things go wrong and having to go back seven minutes or so really makes me want to rush through each encounter as fast as possible, which is decidedly non-optimal.

Uh, steam should have a CD key button when you Shift-tab in game, which also has a convenient copy to clipboard button.

Ha! Well would you look at that, there is indeed a convenient CD Key link. I haven't had luck with pasting it though, but at least I can shift+tab to reference it. Thanks!

Hopefully the magically disappearing nanocatalyst thing will be fixed in this patch. It sucks to meticulously clear out a couple of areas making sure you pick up every bit of currency to get the suit upgrades only to check your total amount and its either less than what you've actually earned or at zero.

A 2011 PC game that claims to be the top noth on technology and doesn't include DX11 Support??? Ridiculous Crytek.... no POM support, issues with 5.1/7.1 sound systems, no mods support, no 64 executable file, and for the love of God no AA, AF options?? To much problems at launch for a game that was developed on PC and that should include all this features. No money for you on PC Crytek, sorry.

Why won't EA just give up on this shit already because it seems that everything they've launched with it gets F'd somehow.
Their games (hich they never want to fix or even admit are broken), have enough issues as it is

I've had a save game issue on the Xbox version. Had to scrape the save game and restart the level. It would play for a fraction of a second, then lockup with a hard reset the only way out.

So the xbox versions online gameplay is pathetic. The servers are trash, and it seems random on how guns work. Shouldnt have been such a huge ordeal to make a great experience, since they had the foundation made.
