And now, the internet wins again as Capcom's released a teaser trailer for RE:ORC. Some napkin math – 29.97 frames per second and 70 seconds of video – shows we're looking at about 2098 images in the below trailer. If each one of those is worth a thousand words, things aren't looking so good in Printlandia. Another place things aren't looking so good: Raccoon City.

Looks Great, keeping my eye on this.
It's skyrocketed to my #1 anticipated game this year.
Can't wait to see more.

About to watch the video. Saw unskippable ad. Ignored video and commented. Does Joystiq have no other revenue sources? Why not set up a donation page/Paypal account? I'd be willing to send a few bucks if it means no intrusive ads.

There's a difference between a floating, silent, closeable ad at the bottom of a video and a stupid, unskippable commercial ad before a video.

What is this game called?

So I'm guessing it's a prequel?
Posted: Mar 30th 2011 2:56PM SuperJmad said
@Prboi The end looked like the the opening to RE2. Leon driving a Jeep into Raccoon City stops at a dead dude lying down in the road as a crow flies away. Besides according to canon, Umbrella sent in a cleaning crew during RE2 and RE3 right before the town was destroyed by airstrike. My guess is you are that crew.

damn this year is going to be good (as long as all the Release date stay on track)
I think I may have to sell my wallet if I want to buy all the games that are coming out this year.

Think Capcom is (belatedly) trying to cash in on some of the L4D momentum? I'm not sure, honestly. I'm imagining this will be third-person over the shoulder, though. It will be interesting to see what control (read: run & gun) changes they make after receiving feedback from fans on RE5, and if the control scheme for RE:ORC is carried over to RE6, whenever that may be.

So is this like Resdient Evil: Outbreak but ... fixed? Looks like it wants to be Outbreak meets Left 4 Dead.

Im sure im not the only one hoping this is more "Survival horror" compared to the action game RE5 was, im not downing RE5 btw, it was a great game but playing RE1 as a child i remember my heart beating so fast while playing lol
This scene messed me up for a few nights - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe6srxp1-9I LOL

@Vampettrelli Resident Evil 2 is and always will be in my all time top five. The series hasn't been itself for a long time.. (I liked 4) I just wish it had slow zombies, umbrella, Racoon City, and that 90s vibe. It would warm my heart to have the first 3 games rereleased on xbox or psn.

Seriously. RE4, despite being more action-oriented than its predecessors, at least had the decency to provide spooky set pieces. Moonlit forests, dilapidated villages and Gothic castles drove home the point that I was, to some extent, playing a Resident Evil game.
RE5, though fun, seemed more like a balls-out action movie. It was a bold move to try to evoke horror movie thrills under the blinding African sun...bold, yet ineffective. The fear was diluted even further by having a partner backing you up every step of the way. A big part of what made previous Resident Evil games was (ironically) being alone in the dark.
I figure what with this new title being developed by Slant 6, it'll be a squad-based online multiplayer shooter. It may be a good game, but I don't see myself considering it a true RE game. I barely recognize RE5 as being part of the franchise.
Sigh...here's to hoping RE: Revelations doesn't disappoint...

Resident evil 4 was epic, i have to say, i must have completed it like 4-5 times over, and i also miss the way the doors opened in the original RE games, or when u went up stairs lol, even tho it could get annoying if u passed through the wrong door. also there was alot more suspense and tension in the old resident evils, RE5 was fast paste and the way the zombies run at u then stop when they get like a meter away, i mean if your gonna give them running boots at least let them run the full length lol
Slow Zombies FTW

Resident evil 4 was a mix of both, still felt similar to past resident evils at the same time having its action perks, and it worked, the story was amazing, Leon is epic, Even Ashley was freaking epic lol
RE5 just lost alil balance though, although a good game, it wasn't what i expected.

me too. It added alot of tension not knowing what was behind the next door. Oftentimes I'd find myself scrambling to try and rush back through that door again.

You guys are gonna be disappointed I think, I hear its just some multiplayer action shooter. Probably gonna lose all items, doors, environment interaction and maps altogether, in favor of walking forward along a narrow track, shooting stuff. It's not even developed by Capcom so hope for this game is practically zero.
Screw them, seriously. Why the hell are they doing exactly the opposite what everyone asks for? They want RE2, REmake style, and what do we get? First an RE2 on-rails shooter, and now this. WTF is wrong with them?
Well, I think I know, they're probably buckling under the pressure of thousands of whiny little ****s crying about how finding stuff is so hard and playing in a world that's not just holding forward to go to the next room is harrrrddd and puzzling is haarrrddddddd.

Okay, after seeing that, it seems as if they're going for another RE: Outbreak sort of deal. I am grateful for this. The Outbreak concept was something I have always been a supporter of, and I really feel like it came out years before it should have. As long as they:
A) Keep the gameplay confined to either first-person or over-the-shoulder ala RE4/5,
B) Allow us to shoot while moving,
C) For the love of God, let us use voice chat this time around as opposed to pre-programmed voice blurbs that do a less-than adequate job of communicating vital information to our teammates,
...then I think I'll be happy.

I hope that Capcom brings Outbreak out again b/c I really didn't get a chance to play it.
That or at least a re-vamped spiritual successor outside of ORC.
