Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 'Reverie' DLC released 'in error' on PSN
27
David Cox, producer on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, has been all over Twitter recently, responding to complaints about the DLC delay. When he was asked by one disgruntled European gamer wondering why the Xbox 360 delay was holding up the Reverie DLC on PS3 in his region, Cox revealed that the initial DLC launch on PSN was "put up there in error." In other words, Reverie wasn't meant to be released on PS3 in North America (whoops!).
Cox also said that it's "too late to take it down" meaning that presumably whatever bug is keeping it from a larger release isn't catastrophic enough to require it be pulled from Sony's service. Currently the DLC is still available on the US PlayStation Store for $9.99.

3 levels. Which doesn't sound like much when considering how many levels there are in this game.

I didn't know DLC could be released "in error". That's just weird to me.

It's also an interesting way to generate content buzz. Content that WASN'T supposed to be released yet? I'm wondering if it will spike the DLC sales on the PSN.

No wonder the Trophies would not upload when I would sync. Let's see if that error was fixed.

@Saint Anima Seems like everything is good for me, finally. Now, where's that Resurrection, Cox?

Reminds me of the Medal of Honour beta. The 99% crashes/freezes from the PSN beta which was delayed on 360 because of Microsoft's strict xbl software policy gives me hope that at least one company isn't contempt with releasing broken software that they think they can just shove down our throats with the intent of being fixed later.

My Fanboyish friend.... First of all BETAs are "BROKEN SOFTWARE" thats why they need testing, tweaking and fixing BEFORE they release a demo or the retail product. You know i had TONS of issues with the MOH Beta, but almost NONE on the retail. Anyways wanna know something fun? Let me Quote MR Cox:
"It's an issue with XBox Live not the DLC itself."
I know that my english is bad, but its not the DLC itself but that Company that isnt contempt with releasing blah blah blah, fanboy bulls**t

I need to finish this game so I have a reason to download the DLC. I've been meaning to finish it up anyway.

Does the DLC bring back the save problem that the game had before the patch? Maybe that's what they held back the 360 version for. The scariest thing about that was worrying that it would erase my save.

In other words, Sony doesn't want to pull it because they can say they got something before the XBox.
Just like MS constantly does when they are able to release something before the PSN can. It's advertised like mad that it can be gotten on XBox Live before the Playstation Network.
It's just stupid rivalry. Both companies should just see about releasing the content on the same date. As long as it's limited to content that will be on BOTH systems, why does it matter?

because feeling like you're punished if you want to play DLC as soon as possible just because you bought the game on one system vs another is enough of a reason to purchase the game for the system that will have it first. Which is what the console wars is all about. It's also how MS competes with Sony, since any game released on both systems will usually look better on the PS3 version.

How the heck do you release DLC in error?
"oops, we accidentally released DLC and asked $9.99 for it..."

@brotherfranciz Being a developer myself, i can think, they set the "Release" flag on their psn database, on the gameDLC to 1, meaning it can be published on psn
Pretty sure they mean to run that query (Update psn.gameDLC set Release = 1 where game = "Castlevania: Lord of Shadow") on their test database, not the release one
I mean, i had made this mistake quite a few time where i work (run something on the good databse, not the test one)
