It seems that is where all the work was going.

She looks so remarkably casual about shooting, like she's a mannequin or something. Maybe spin it off and sell the script to Hollywood for the movie "Mannequin 2 - The ReDeadening"

Oh sweet christ, turns out they actually did make a second one already. Gad, that must be awful. I guess we could roll with "Mannequin 3: The ReRevenging"

They already did a Mannequin sequel. This would be Mannequin 3, even more Mannequiny.

There was a Part Two. It didn't go well. But "Stay Dead" would be an approrpriate subtitle.

"A young department store intern falls in love with a female store mannequin who is really a peasant girl fallen under a thousand year spell. She comes to life whenever he removes the cursed necklace from her."

Who green-lighted this, that's incredible. Aside from the obviously ridiculous plot, what the eff is a department store intern!?

At least Planetside was unique, and they're both shooter-ish.

Do we really need another EverQuest, though?

better that than to waste several more years of work and millions (if not tens of millions) of dollars. it's still a bummer; i was rather interested in The Agency.

good luck to the people who lost their jobs. being laid off sucks anytime, but most especially in today's climate.

I don't know, it's a cool 68 degrees and sunny where I am, so as far as a lay-off climate goes today would be pretty decent.

This is a company that has kept Star Wars Galaxies afloat, though.

And, instead of The Agency, we're getting another EverQuest. Of course, I'm very confident that a new EverQuest will offer a completely unique experience from EverQuest, Everquest 2, Dark Age of Camelot, World of Warcraft, Rift, Runes of Magic and all those other innovative MMO titles set to launch in the next 12 months.

Only partially playable in a controlled environment by a SOE rep. Remember the game was supposed to do things like send you text messages have things that occurred in the game world while you were offline, and have all sorts of missions around the world as well as missions that pit you on the opposite side of the competing agency on some jobs. The added complexity of designing all that gameplay, balancing weapons, writing, animating, modeling, creating, etc takes a long time for an MMO and that's before you even stick thousands of people in the world to see if they break it.

It sucks, but I can't blame them for canceling a game that doesn't seem like it was coming out in the near future. SOE doesn't want to be the host of the new Duke Nukem Forever.

Ouch, never got a chance to get off the ground.

The gaming industry can be so volatile at times. Most of us live out routines of buying games and deciding whether they "suck or not," while another has to figure out how to manage their bills and / or families situation.

Can we all agree as a society to stop using phrases like "streamline our global workforce." I can't imagine that it makes anyone feel the least bit better about a crummy situation.

I feel your pain man, this was one of the games that I bought a ps3 for. As well as titles that would continue on the ps3 like Kingdom Hearts (I thought there would be another one by now), Jak and Daxter, successorl to ICO (Last Guardian wasn't announced back then), Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, God of War, etc.

Total bummer!

It's crazy to me that companies are able to spend millions of dollars and have literally nothing to show for it on some of these titles

They've been making this game for what now? Over 3-4 years at least and you can't even churn out a "Monday Night Combat" style game and recoup SOMETHING? Are the devs just THAT terrible?

(Midway's "This is Vegas" also comes to mind) Argh!

I wonder if the failure of DC Universe Online had anything to do with it. A MMO is a huge money gamble, and DCUO failed to generate lots of excitement on PS3.
