Mortal Kombat tag team match pits Background against Our Attention

Happy April Brutal Violence Day, everyone! Enjoy some footage of a Mortal Kombat tag team match, featuring Kitana, Mileena, Sindel and Jade.

Even though the match has more painful-looking attacks and surprise reversals than the spinoff Mortal Kombackgammon, we found ourselves unable to concentrate on the actual fighting because of the guy in the background performing a resurrection ritual or something. Way to steal the show!

Maybe we should let the guy have his moment. It must be hard work to be the "resurrection guy" in the Mortal Kombat universe.

Dude, holla back on the Nomad. I got one from a friend when I was in middle school, and I couldn't fathom how little attention it got in light of the fact that if you have a robust Genesis collection, a Nomad is waaaaay better than a Game Gear.

I personally don't like the dialogue stuff before matches, but that's just me. Other than that, the game looks awesome.

I would like a mode where there is as little time as possible between matches (i.e. no intro dialogue).

I thought the stick to the crotch and spine would have been more painful than the ending.

Didn't care much about the resurrection guy. Also, I don't care much for the MK francise since MK2 (yep, on the SNes), but this one is looking hot, actually - and not just because it has gone Team Ninja on the... you know... boobs.

On a side note, I'd like to thank Team Ninja for not overexposing and sexing Samus up.

@TheShaper They didn't hold back on the sexing up Samus that much, I recall several cut scenes with her out of the suit and the camera fixating on either her ass or her breasts.

I'll give you that much, she sure looked sexy in her "Zero Suit" but when you take Team Ninja background into consideration (seriously, I couldn't focus while watching Ninja Gaiden 2 cutscenes), they sure could've done much worse. I mean, in this case, "worse" is the right term.

That really brings back memories. Kitana was always my go-to character, along with Raiden. I wonder if this thing is going to have a story?

Looks like he's resurrecting MEAT! Hopefully he shows up again as a secret character.

This trailer makes me want to slaughter the morons responsible for banning this in Australia.

This trailer shows there were no women designers on the MK9 team.

These digitized women are clearly wearing too much clothes. This game is clearly slated for the female or homosexual male market.

Funny how in 2011, the new Mortal Kombat is the most anticipated fighter and the new Capcom brawler (MvC3) is disappointing garbage.

@Elranzer So true. I am just giving up on MvC3... cheap OTG's and crappy online connection issues. Can't wait for MK9... and there's always hoping Capcom gets it right next year in SF vs Tekken.

Why do some of Joystiq's videos work fine and then others don't work at all or play like shit? This site is as glitchy as their craptastic iPhone app!

I love the blood spatter on the floor and into the characters plus the catfight and awesome crotch attack. haha. I can't freakin' wait. Definitely day one. I'm a sucker for MK. >3

Meh, they really don't know how to make stuff gross these days. They don't realize that this isn't edgy anymore. If they want to make it edgy, they need to work on two things:

1. Study what actual wounds and broken bones look like.

2. Get professional fighters and stuntmen to "beat up" each other. These animations don't look violent at all.

The bone-showing kills look more like an anatomy lesson than a violent kill. When games weren't violent, one constantly violent arcade game looked edgy. We've been used to this for many, many years, no-one cringes at a spurt of blood coming from where someone got punched. If they lowered the blood to make it more realistic it would have a much higher shock-factor. They want their gamers to cringe when their character gets their head ripped off, not go "ooh, cool.. well.. it was the first time I saw it.".

Don't know if it is....it might be because I just woke up but it almost looked like Shinook from MK4 (which is actually Quan Chi)
