This -right- after the 3DS ver. :(

Pretty cool, you'd almost expect them to make a full release for this type of thing. Good for them.

I know you're being sarcastic...but that isn't how DLC and updates are stored on optical based platforms.

It was either that or Super Street Fighter 4 Hyper Edition would have been out already just like SSF4 released a year after SF4.

Now about that price.

I guess I technically shouldn't care about the cost, since I've bought all the DLC for SSF IV thus far... :\ I'll gladly pay for the ability to *finally* play as Yun/Yang. Couldn't care less about the scrub-friendly other two.

I'd say that Yun/Yang are more scrub-friendly than Evil Ryu, due to his almost Seth-like health.

I think the reason why they don't do that is because the replays they save aren't actually videos, its just a compilation of all the button presses from the map, re-inputted by CPUs. With the consistency of the engine, we get the same match since the same buttons are press at the same times.

Then again, thats just my guess. Otherwise my 100+ console replays would be filling my xbox hard drive o.o

Capcom have been testing DLC pricing resistance for years, I did not buy the MvC3 Jill or Shuma at $6.49 each but am sure many did.
So it wouldn't be out of the RoP that this DLC would cost $25.96... which would be the trade in value for both SF4 & SSF4 combined.

I'm guessing that if you get the DLC and you play against people without it then you have to play without the balance changes?

I really hope there's a separate matchmaking area for that, since my character is getting buffed in the DLC...

@Acosta02

Most likely, there will be a title update and everyone will get the balance changes but only people who pay for the DLC will get to use the new characters. If, as Capcom has said, AE users will still be able to play against SSF4 users (which makes perfect sense as to not segregate the online community), then everyone will actually download the characters in the title update and all you'll actually *pay* for is an unlock code. Otherwise, having to transfer the new character data each time you play someone without the DLC would be a load screen nightmare. They did it for the PSP Tekken: Dark Resurrection when two PSPs played off of one disc and though it was a generous and novel idea, the endless loading kind of took some of the fun out.

While that sounds reasonable, I don't think Capcom would take away people's ability to play SSFIV.

I like how people are complaining that the 3DS version won't get the update when people have known the update would eventually come out since the arcade version was released AND we knew the 3DS version would be a "get what you get" package.

Still I can't complain though. Ken, my main, got buffed and I've been wanting to play Yang, my favorite Third Strike character.

@gamerkim28 Well, Evil Ryu is buff but regular Ryu (like the rest of the original SSFIV cast) was nerfed like the rest. Sad part is the arcade used to be where the balancing would come from, but there's no word from Capcom even admitting that there's a balance problem in the arcade edition. I agree with you though...if there is a meaningful and decent update I'll get it down the line.

Ono (lead producer of SF4, SSF4, and AE) admitted that SSF4 was really balanced and AE was purposely unbalanced. "The reason this was done is because Ono feels that having such a character helps to build [the arcade] community and competitive spirit." ( http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/02/24/no_home_super_sfiv_ae/ )

AE is (apparently) not very popular in Japan due to the craziness of Yun.

Here's hoping that a rebalancing is coming because I don't think Capcom wants their game to remain unpopular for long.

I respect the thoughts of Sir Ono but once AE comes to the consoles. PC (down the road) we will start to break down the twins' frame data and options they won't be good as they are now. It just a matter of time and if they are still god like :P Winning against them should replicate that feeling of beating SFIV Sagat which at least is good.

@(Unverified) Agree to Disagree. If a character is broken, it's broken. This isn't beating something that's difficult, ala Super Meat Boy Light/Dark...this is a character roster lazily updated and 4 "new" characters lazily created because Ono is an idiot.

I can understand your frustration about the addition of these characters. Yun and Yang; I see as marketing tools for a future release (third Strike Online Edition). About Evil Ryu and Oni being copy and paste jobs to a degree is undeniable and the rest is debatable.

As for the characters being "unbalanced" as Ono puts it just wants the characters to be used more and placed in public view because for third strike online edition release hence the marketing.(from the pics release from 3rd strike online, twins might be the poster boys along with the norm of ryu and ken) I have faced many excellent Yuns and Yangs; they are solid characters but far from broken. Yang does less damage than Yun but has more options and Safer set ups in both combos and ultras. Yun has the damage but lacks safe options and reliable pokes, can combo into ultra 1 fairly easy but suffers a lot from damage scaling. Ultra 2 can only enter a combo upon Genei Jin activation which in its self is a good move but again suffers from damage scaling so resets are a must.

I'm more afraid of Fei Long as he was good in Super and now even better with more + frame hits meaning more frame traps into Rekka which means more pressure. need to nerf st.Fierce -> medium Flame kick FADC -> anything (so much damage).

The twins are characters that can't be used easily. Takes a good sense of spacing, execution and defense to win; can't go auto pilot and expect to win and can't forget Ono is a lvl 99 Troll and gets payed for it.

@Cranky Penguin

There is no totaled up list of balance changes unfortunately.

If you can read Japanese, here's the Japanese developer blog. ( http://www.capcom.co.jp/blog/sf4/development_blog_index.html )

As it's not even released in America (and we're supposed to not know anything about it) there is no official English list of changes

If you're really interested, you should check out shoryuken.com or eventhubs.com . They posted translations of each blog posts when they were posted, but those were a long time ago. You're going to need to do a bit of searching.

@Cranky Penguin

No need to be alarm, Arcade edition is fairly balanced. All four DLC characters are heavy hitters but need to compensate with below average stamina and stun; So making one or two mistakes will cost them the match. If you can handle Rufus well in a fight; a victory against the twins shouldn't be a insurmountable task. As for the Satsui no hado users Evil ryu lacks very good hit confirm combo since crouching forward has too many start up frames but is a very good poke. only crouching strong is viable for hit confirms but he lands a heavy attack; you will cry as the combo afterwards will make your life bar shrink. Oni can zone extremely well but if he gets you to the corner prepare to fall into a nightmare as he can mix you up seven ways to Sunday with very damaging combos and resets but both E.ryu and Oni get K.O.'d quickly so winning with them will take very good feinting tactics and baiting. this is coming from a person that played a lot of arcade edition.

If you bought the DLC and deem it not to your liking and found better value from Super, there will option to return to super. Not clear as if you will play the version of the game or version of the character but I assume its the version of the game.

Only thing I worry about is pricing as Super = 10 new characters, Online features, classic bonus rounds($40). Arcade edition = 4 new characters and enhanced online features (?).
hoping its 15 - 20 dollars

@(Unverified) Thanks for the info, I'll have to check out shoryuken.com. I am far from an expert but SSF4 seems pretty balanced to me. I played in the tournament at PAX East last month and saw the real experts playing a wide variety of characters so that spoke well for its balance too.
