EA can make a good sports game if they want to. But I think a lot of how they make their games depends on the fans of the sport. NHL and FIFA are very well done IMO. NHL11 is realistic and it involves actual strategy each game. Madden is basically just backbreakers but with real player names anymore.

FIFA is well done that is the only EA game I buy. They do a good job on Soccer due to their not being nearly as much contact. It is much easier to render movements and player interaction.

Football however is a ton of contact. Mo Cap quite frankly just doesnt work right. Players get locked in animations and cant leave. A guy will fall for a 3 yard gain when you had guys in position to push him back all because he was locked into a fall forward animation. Madden doesnt use physics. A contact sport that doesnt use physics is not a simulation.

It is nothing like Backbreaker. Back Breaker was the first Innovation the Football Genre has witnessed in years.

It would be awesome if they released Tackle Alley on XBLA and PSN!
The iPhone game is pretty awesome (this is coming from someone who has no interest in football)

I agree. I personally thought that the first game should have been a improved version of the iPhone game but as a downloadable game for PSN/Xbox Live. It would have done much better in every respect.

I'm hoping it's a full sequel. After the patch the game was actually really fun and way better than Madden IMO.

@MEMgrizzlies7 It's the same Tackle Alley from the ipad, just with better graphics....

I can't for the life of me understand this move, all it is going to do is call unwarranted attention to the fiasco that was BackBreaker (yes you can still play the demo on live). They did this all bass ackwards for consoles. I don't wish them bad luck, because I see huge potential in BackBreaker, but chasing after money is never a good way to make money. Sure tackle alley was successful on the ipad and iphone, but compared to what else. Their decision making leaves a lot to be desired.

What happens if TA:V is a success? Do they completely scrap BB2 and simply concentrate on arcade titles now? BB was never intended to be simulation football like Madden, but it is the closest contender with a promising career if they can simply make better business and design decisions.

I haven't really enjoyed a sports game in years but i liked Back Breaker. The Euphoria engine is great and they built around it well. Glad to see another is in the works.

I would give anything to have Visual Concepts get back to making football games. The quality of the 2K series + the physics based animations of natural motion + NFL = *DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOL*

But if it truely is just a port of the iPhone version with better graphics, it's just a waste of time. However, if they actually try to make a true sequel...

As we all saw with NBA elite, EA fears competition because EA can't compete.

As someone who hasn't enjoyed a sports game in ages, Backbreaker was a fresh way for me to sink my hooks back into the genre. While it had its flaws, it was still a better sports game than any of the Madden titles. Better visuals, better technology such as Euphoria, and the controls and camera that physically put yyou on the field and in full control. And after the patch, Backbreaker became even better.
