Xbox Live April schedule redux: Gears 3 beta, deals on Limbo, Shadow Complex and other MGS content

It's going to be a busy month on Xbox Live. Not only is the Gears of War 3 beta set to drop on April 25 for those who pre-ordered through GameStop (April 18 for those who snagged Bulletstorm), there's also a half-month full of XBLA games, Games on Demand titles and deals -- even some slashed prices on Microsoft Game Studios content, like the Halo: Reach Noble Map Pack and Alan Wake's The Writer DLC.

I guess it's because I don't play Metal Gear or really pay attention to anything related to the series, but every time I see "MGS" I naturally think "Microsoft Game Studios."

Please don't use MGS as an accronym for Microsoft Game Studios. I always get hyped up thinking there will be Metal Gear Solid news.

I just recently bought the Big Thrills tracks, Snoopy, and Ilomilo. They are all great and worth it but, come on. No one feels as happy with their purchase when they know waiting a couple of days and it would have been half price.

I already own all of the 'big' games that will be on sale there and don't mind that they are on sale (or have been in the past) because I got them the day they were available and are definitely worth it. Toy Soldiers is the only one I'm missing and at least I'll be able to take part in these great sales. A small part still counts.

toy soldiers is great. you might want to check it out if you're into the whole tower defense genre. it's one of my favs

Looking at this list made me realize how much I've spent on downloads as I've already got a lot of what I'd be interested in except the Noble map pack. And I think I'll be downloading that as soon as I get home...

I always wondered why PS+ gets so much love for having discounts for subscribers but MS never gets any credit for the ridiculous amount of sales they put up on XBL content.

MS has amazing exclusive games and content, while PS+ offers completely free games to subscribers. Personally, I find the content to be much better on Live, but I think the whole argument between the two services stems from the fact that you don't have to pay to play online with Sony.

I wish it was more like the Zunepass. You keep 10 songs each month at NO ADDITIONAL COST( NOT FREE REALLY) Even after you are no longer a member. With PSN+, which is still cool, you get to play certain games at no additional cost for the life of the membership. Funny cause right now they have Sonic and a couple of other games at no additional cost. Which can total to like close to 20 dollars or so, maybe less. With the Zunepass you get 10 dollars worth of music FOREVER! lol

However, it would be cool if xbox live offer a similar deal for the life of your membership.

Win! I've been holding off on buying Shadow Complex until a sale hit. I might have enough points to grab Mega Man 10, too, come to think of it. Not sure I'm ready for that level of frustration, though....

Buying Mega Man 10 for $5 was the worst purchase I ever made. Beating the 8 bad guys wasn't so bad, but replaying the final level over and over and over and over for a week and just falling short every time made me lose it. I deleted the game and the game save off my hard drive. I never unlocked a single achievement for it.

Shadow Complex is fantastic.

Thanks for the heads up! I've heard a lot of horror stories about 10 that match exactly what you just described. I think I'm going to pass and just go back to playing the Anniversary Collection on my PS2.

It's great they are offering so many deals. I hope they keep it up.

I love the games on demand lol I bought 10 games already ill be picking up fallout new Vegas and lost planet 2 after transformers wfc and dead space i hope they start releasing all titles digitaly same day as release

Damn it, I picked up Limbo during the black Friday deal and never touched it! Oh well, I still got it for 800 points. These are some really good sales, Shadow Complex is tempting.

Ilomilo is a steal at $5!
I haven't spent so much time trying to make sense of a 3D puzzle since Portal. Cute, yes. But, even moreso challenging.

Only disappointed to see that the Gears beta will end May 15! I'm on vacation from May 1 - 15 - I'll miss half of it :(

My patience has paid off. Ilomilo is going on sale!

Is it just me or do Gears of War games stop being fun after about a week? Referring to the multiplayer modes.

Co-op is cool, but I played the first two Gears games in competitive multiplayer online for about a week each. Then they just got bad.

I thought the GeoW games got boring after about an hour in any of the modes. Just a clunky TPS.
