It's looking to be a fairly delightful summer for folks waiting on pins and needles for renovated versions of Nintendo 64 classics on the 3DS. Just one day after announcing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's June 19 release date, Nintendo's uploaded a Japanese launch date for Star Fox 64 3D to the game's official site: The bestial flight combat simulator is scheduled to hit Japanese store shelves July 14.
We've got our fingers crossed that Star Fox's journey to North America will be as speedy as Ocarina of Time's (which is coming out in Japan just three days before releasing in the U.S.). Is that wishful thinking? Perhaps. But hey, if we've gotta wish on something, we may as well wish upon a Star!
Fox.

Know what would be great? If they'd finally release Starfox 2 with the new graphics and 3D.

Not if you count the second SNES game, which remains unreleased to this day. At the time, it was held back so that the N64 would seem more impressive by comparison, but I'd like to think the statute of limitations on that has passed by a week or two.

It remains unreleased OFFICIALLY. You can find the rom online.
Lylat Wars was so good though, that I don't really begrudge them not putting out StarFox 2....

OMG! A rail-shooter in 3D is probably the best idea yet.

Looks like they couldn't figure out what to do with the second screen.

They upgraded the graphics but what else. You can get the same games (Zelda & starfox 64) for cheaper else where. I'm just dissapointed at nintendo because the best they can do is come out with 2 old games at full price. Where are they're new AAA games.

@Dmont16 Paper Mario, Kid Icarus Uprising, and the next Animal Crossing game are still being Perfected. Quitcherbitchin and just don't buy a 3DS until those come out like all us poor folk and non-streetfighter addicts. However, Nintendogs+Cats is already out...

@Dmont16. Agreed. I am running an emulator on my phone for this very game. I wish they would release a "Nintendo Classics" line with a lower price point. Then I could buy my about to be 8 year old a lesson or two in game history in addition to the 3DS for his birthday! :)

What a fun game, it's a bit hairy to control using the cc (first gen) - still playable though.
They could have put a map on the bottom screen, even if it's on rails - it could scroll. Command I think was the next best game in the series after this version. Though I did enjoy the Rare Zelda clone that is Adventures. Assault is not a good game on any level, really.
Anyone that has not played this game and has a 3DS should pick this up. and Starfox: Command.

@Nook yeah, assault was traumatic, but I for one loved Adventures wholeheartedly.
