Placing bets, Bertha is the explosives expert. Big Bertha can then refer to the booms that she likes. $5 mental bucks down, any takers?

Introducing Team Charlie's sharp-tongued special agent Bertha. Although Bertha's manner may be viewed as sarcastic, team Alpha and team Charlie still treat her with a great deal of respect, partly out of fear, and it is clear that the unit cannot function properly without her.

Any way I think this looks pretty cool.
I'm a huge fan of RE and enjoy them trying to change things up.
I've imagined a game like this for a very long time. So it's cool to finally see it become a reality.

It's ok for a franchise to change.
Not to mention especially when said game is just a spin off.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. It's been a lingering loose end from RE2 towards the end of the game (e.g. bodies of U.S. special forces lying around, etc).

I'm still waiting for my Survivor Horror RE. I don't have problems with changes here and that, but RE became a TPS.

If you compare RE1 and RE5, they don't have nothing in common except for Chris, Jill, Wesker and the title. The series lost the identity and what really concerns me is the fact that everyone think this is okay, sure, I can expect that from new players that didn't experience the classics, but not from the media. They changed the game GENRE and no one criticized this.

I'm pretty sure if the next Gran Turismo game turn out to be GTA-like, the media would crush the game for being something that not suppose to be, but that didn't happen with RE, instead, they praised the game. If the market was lacking on the shooting genre, I would understand, but shooters are released every month for a long time, so they didn't have to destroy the uniqueness of the early RE games just to be another shooter among dozens. Now the series is out of control, a shame really, because they had the perfect opportunity to test the survivor horror with ORC, I mean, we're back to Raccoon City with T and G virus all over the place, they couldn't had a better settings for a survivor horror test, but instead, we're gonna have guys with ammo in abundance, a guy that cloaks (really?)... sorry, I better stop, my plan was to write a 3 line comment. I'm sure I'll be downvoted like crazy, but that's what I think about the whole situation.

@jocaju I agree. The series has changed almost completely and it's okay that a lot of folk are totally fine with that but there's a lot of folk that miss how it used to be and that's okay too.

Mind you if the next Silent Hill was to turn into a FPS action shooter with team based play I would probably go into a frothing rage.

I see your point and understand entirely.
I've played all the games and enjoy all of them for what they are.
If anything Revelations looks to be going back to the horror roots, we'll have to see if it stays that way.

Capcom knows that now there's really 23 an bases for RE.
The people who want the horror, the people who want the action, and the people in between.

Though lately it looks like Capcom is mainly giving in to the action crowd, I believe they'll be returning back to make the other's fans happy as well.

Is this some alternate reality of Resident Evil or something? In RE2 Leon never even had time to come across guys like these. I appreciate a different take on it, but honestly seeing old rookie Leon in that atmosphere just makes me wish they'd remake Resident Evil 2 instead.

... that and the COD meets RE2 angle really sort of turns me off. :\

why? Just go back and play RE two. Why prefer to waste developers time and money and creativity on yet ANOTHER remake? It's still for sale on the PSN. You can pick it up (err download) today for just $5.99, and let all the people who like seeing Different Things in the Resident Evil series get the new IP, and then everyone is happy.

I'm playing RE2 on my psp at work (whenever it gets slow) and honestly I can't effing wait for REORC. This will be my first pre-purchase in a looooooonng time

Considering how they remade RE1 so many different times, I don't see why 2 would be any different. The problem is I don't want to play as Spec Ops souped-up military people in a RE game... I liked it back when you were by yourself and just had ok weapons and it felt more like survival. And I'm not complaining about a co-op element, because I think RE: Outbreak had some interesting promise, especially because the characters were more-or-less regular people.

I also don't think a remake would be a waste of time. It's been quite a while since RE2... new cinematics and visuals would definitely hook me back in, just as it had with RE1.

This is Leon Kennedy segregation, I wont stand for this!
Then again... Zombies are back, Tyrants are back, Raccoon is back...
There seems to be a promise for adversarial multiplayer with Kennedy as the objective.
This could be awesome.

I'm a massive RE fan, and despite them murdering the cannon of RE2 - I don't give a damn. This looks awesome. Resident Evil SOCOM. I'm super excited!

I'm about as anal as any other fanboy is when it comes to Resident Evil. But, considering games like Resident Evil Outbreak and Outbreak File 2 were FANTASTIC games in my opinion that also slaughtered a lot of not only canon story but also reality in itself (LOLOLOL TIME WARP POWERS, LETS BLOW UP THE CITY TWICE).

There is absolutely no reason for these guys to go after Leon, aside from him being a cop but even then there was no movement from Umbrella to kill them aside from STARS forces (they weren't the entire RPD mind you). And you know what, I don't care! Just give me the game and let me put a bullet in Leon's head for shits and giggles!

Why are they trying to kill the most badass protagonist of RE? Why don't they go find a Redfield to kill or something. Leave Leon and his badassery out of this.

I really hope Capcom doesn't make this game canon to the overall story of Resident Evil.

Why the hell does Umbrella care so much about a rookie cop on his first day of the job? I could understand chasing him down once he's uncovered Umbrella secrets, but really... and Leon shouldn't have any of his fancy government training yet, so Umbrella's special forces should be able to take him down easily.

The game looks really dumb, not even just for a Resident Evil game. Then again, I've never been a fan of the SOCOM games, so... yeah, don't really have high hopes for this.

Well its kinda told in the last trailer their orders are to eliminate any police officers they find since Chief Irons(Fat guy with rapist stach) was on Umbrella's payroll and he was a huge liability for them including he might have had some officers on his payroll who knew about his dealings with umbrella they just decided to go with lets just wipe out the entire police force. Its not like the special forces were like "Who's that guy?" "I dunno, some rookie cop or something." "Should we kill him?" "Control says yes, we should, he's a primary target." "Did you actually contact Control?" "Of course not, now shut up and shoot the guy."
