Amazon has it for $55 with $20 game credit towards a future purchase.

For Canada, the deal isn't on www.amazon.ca, but www.amazon.com will deliver this item to Canada, but then for 1-3 day shipping (at least to Toronto) it would cost you $23.98 or for a very long 8-16 day shipping it would be $8.98. Plus the duty fee deposit is $6.60.

Assuming the duty fee deposit ends up being the actual duty fee amount, this is still a good deal if you do the 8-16 day shipping option as it totals $70.57 (which is basically $50,57 including tax after accounting for the $20 credit, compared to $59.99 plus tax in stores for a total of $67.80 based on Ontario's taxes).

The shipping also usually ends up being much shorter than the estimated times.

I've gone with amazon myself, the $20 credit is an amazon credit, not just limited to games which is extra nice. And if you have prime it's free launch day delivery... so $35 to have it on launch day... got it for PS3 even though I intend to use mac more because hey, free couch co-op :0) That's a helluva bargain on a game that just can not be bad even if they tried... it could be worse than portal one, but are most things in life so I'll take my chances...

I remember when I was in Canada in '08 when they were selling all of those newly released games for $20 off and we didn't get those same deals in the US. I think there is some weird cycle going on with retailers.

$45 at Best Buy plus the $10 in bonus points means $35 total (plus tax).

Some people may still like going to actual stores, but I won't deny that the Amazon deal is good as well.

@Jason B Plus, you can apply the credit to other games that have the $20 credit. I've been buying new games with release date free shipping and no tax for $40 or less for years by bouncing the $20 credit from game to game.

Pretty good, but I'm sticking with Amazon. No tax, saves me from going to the store.

Plus whenever I go to best buy I feel like I'm at a car dealership with all the workers that approach me. I know they are just doing their job but I like to browse in peace.

Good point. I should say that when I know what I want I'm interrogated but when I'm looking for an employee I'm fairly certain they are all in the break room looking and laughing at me on monitors.

@JasonA You should know by now that any deal/promotion involving video games never applies to Canada. We Canadians just have to live with the fact that video game companies don't care about us.

well, you could always buy it off of steam...

you do know, that if you are using a canadian credit card on steam, the bank does the conversion for you.

So buy that 50usd game, and watch as your bank takes less than 50 in CAD

@Faceless Troll Unless you don't own a PS3. I will admit that the Steam Play deal that Valve is doing is awesome, but since I don't own a PS3, and thus don't have a PSN account to tie to my Steam account, I don't get that advantage.

That said, $35 for Portal 2? I'll ride that. Ball's in your court, Valve.

Or you could buy the PS3 version which is essentially $35 on amazon that comes with the free Steam copy and sell the disc to make it an even cheaper deal

@BtheCarp

The free copy is TIED to your PS3 and Steam account. You cannot sell the CD.

When you buy the PS3 version, you have to register your Steam account with your PS3 copy, either your preexisting one, or creating a new one. If you don't have the copy registered with your account, you don't get the free copy.

@Drakkenfyre

The info posted on steam's website says nothing about requiring the disc to play it on steam.

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5477-WPJM-9388

"Each new copy of Portal 2 on PlayStation®3 includes a one-time use code allowing you access to the game on Windows or Mac through Steam."

"The PlayStation®3 game disc for Portal 2 cannot be used to install the game in Windows or OSX. Instead, your computer will download the correct version of the game through Steam."

While your PSN and steam accounts will be linked together, nothing is said about the disc itself being linked. Therefore, you should be able to trade in your PS3 copy anytime you please, and still be able to run the steam version.

Can two players play online co-op with each other using a single purchase of Portal 2 for PlayStation®3?

"Only PlayStation®3 split-screen co-op can be played using a single copy of the game. When you purchase a new copy of Portal 2 for PlayStation®3, you will receive an in-box code which provides your linked Steam account with access to your copy of Portal 2 on your computer. The game is still owned by only a single Steam account--another copy will be required to play online co-op with a friend."

This just means you can't play co-op from the PSN account with the steam account.

You're gonna have to tell whoever rings up you up about their online price (if it's still like that Tuesday). In-store, BB is giving a $10 gift card w/ the purchase of Portal 2. You might as well buy it off of the website and do in-store pick up, pal.

Went with Amazon - the $20 credit was too sweet to pass up, and no tax for me.

Also, although the default "Standard Shipping" of 3-5 days was $5, release day shipping is $1. Seriously - how cool is that? Also, I wonder how many people will pay more money to have it shipped later...

Actually no, hackers are really just improving the system the way they see fit. But the only way to do that is if they free the system from the companies constraints. But in turn that can lead to pirating. When you jail break your iPhone, you are freeing your phone from Apple & you can do what you want with it & use it to its full potential. However, it's your decision if you want to download & get free apps. That wasn't created by the real George Hotz. It was created by someone else who utilized Hotz's jailbreak in order to do so.
