LittleBigPlanet 2 hits four million levels, Contraption Challenge returns
20
We're pretty sure that if you added up all the levels of all the games ever released throughout the fullness of history, the total sum wouldn't measure up to LittleBigPlanet 2's latest achievement. Its combined number of user-contributed levels from LBP1 and LBP 2 has broken the four million mark.
The achievement is being celebrated alongside the return of the Contraption Challenge -- a contest to build a particular vehicle designated by Media Molecule, the winner of which nets themselves a super rare in-game crown for their Sackperson. This time, entrants will need to craft a working submarine, by which we assume they mean an underwater vessel, and not a giant, rideable sandwich.

I'm pretty sure out of those 4 million, 100,000 are worth playing with the rest being primarily for trophy whoring.

@eat it Oh I agree, some of the levels I have played, even ones dating back to the first LBP, were fantastic. I even questioned whether those particular authors were in fact employees since what they produced was so good and even rivaled that of the offical levels included with the game.

Yeah, that's a game with 100,000 good levels. Think about that.

@Ryguy226 Sturgeon's Law applies to everything, dude. The replayability of this game is just tremendous even if you only play the exceptional levels.

I was really excited for LBP2. I loved the first game, and all the new features for levels in the second made it look oh-so-promising.
And EVERYONE sucks at making levels. I've played a lot of levels, and only a handful of them were genuinely good. It's really disappointing that they went through all of this trouble of making it more usable and feature-filled, and yet the levels are overall significantly worse than the first game's. The story mode was really awesome, but the community levels just aren't fun. The best levels I've seen so far are the ones that are shameless rip-offs of other, better, games.

It's funny how you ABSOLUTELY NO pictures of yourself so you have to use a picture from G4's interview? I find that very hard to believe.

There are only 2 problems with this game.
1) If you usually like to play games alone, then this game is going to get pretty boring.
2) If you don't have any creativity, this game will get boring.

More like..
1) If you're anti-social, then this game is going to get pretty boring. The online component really makes this a mute point..
2) I you cant make a generic bomb survival, this game will get boring. Everyone and their grandmother regurgitates those levels at least five times a day.

How about the horrendous connection problems for multiplayer? Has that issue been fixed? I haven't touched my copy for a while because I was so disappointed about that.

Pretty sure it's a joke. I remember when Joystiq used to have all kinds of impersonators. Good times.

I guess being late is better than nothing... The 4 Million mark was surpassed about a week ago, and CC13 opened back on the 4th and closes this Sunday at midnight.

Just on another thread I read some troll saying LBP2 was boring and barely passable as a game.
4....
million...
levels.
Stats say theres even a LBP world that someone created were a troll like him is happy.
