Except isn't Monday Night Combat an online only game with a dead community?

Limbo def would have been better at 5, but seeing as how I don't think it's going to go lower than 7.50 till around Christmas, picking it up today.

I played the Monday Night Combat demo. Pretty fun. Is there still a player base? Is it worth picking up?

Shadow Complex is worth a retail price. For 600 it's a pure steal.

Bought Limbo and Shadow Complex.

Already own Monday Night Combat and Trials HD.

Skipping out on Castle Crashers though, need for 4 controllers should I decide to go for 100% one day = no thank you.

Castle Crashers is a great game, you shouldn't dismiss it just because of that.

So... you've never played games pre-Xbox360 then? Just because you can't have the biggest e-Wang is a horrible reason not to play Castle Crashers.

I like having the option of being able to see a game listed on the 100% page of your profile.

I don't actually care about the achievements/gamerscore though so going out and buying 3 controllers just to get 1 achievement is a no go.

Not to mention my current backlog is about 80 games deep.

Yeah what this guy says is dumb

But I'm still mad at Castle Crashers for erasing all my data after I maxed out multiple characters and found all pets/weapons.

It did that TWICE!
F-Castle Crashers.

I was right there with ya up until that point (not in your reason, but if that was a good enough reason for you then fine.

But then you say you don't care about achievements while saying that you like having 100% of the achievemnts. And really, a backlog of 80 games? Did you just stop playing games all together? Because that would be a better reason not to get Castle Crashers.

I'm glad Chair finally confirmed they're working on the sequel to Shadow Complex. The story for the original was kind of goofy, but everything else about that game made for a damn fine Metroidvania.

You probably know that but as goofy as it is, it is a sequel or prequel to (or based on - I can't really remember) a book. But you said it, damn fine "Metroidvania" (hate the term, love the genre), a lot more so than The Other M (which is very good on its own way).

@TheShaper It's kind of a prequel to Empire, in a way, but from what I played of the demo of SC, it definitely comes before the book. But without playing farther than I did, I find it hard to see why they used the story they did in the game, when the book had such a good plot, and could have easily been expounded on with Nathan Drake's exploration/conflicts.

Limbo
Trial HD
Shadow Complex
Monday Night Combat

Not sure about Castle Crashers though unless someone can change my mind.

I also bought for half price a few days ago:

Braid
Splosion Man

And next Tuesday going to pick up Ilomilo for 400 points

@Shabran Castle Crashers is definitely one of the best games out there, and there still seems to be a player base for it. If you like the old arcade games like Final Fight or X-Men, you'll be at home. The art style and humor are also second to none. Definitely try the demo.

I can understand time constraints, given that this is a one-day sale and all, but it's always confused me how people here and elsewhere are frequently asking to be swayed for or against an XBLA game. There are demos of all of them.

@darkinchworm I didn't mean it as in I haven't played it. I actually have played it some time ago and remember how it plays but was just wondering what the content is like, is it replayable, the rpg elements that are in the game do they carry on in a new game+ etc.

Limbo is a great buy at $7.50. Hell, they all are, but that one is the only arguably 'short' experience. I personally had no regrets for $15; but if anyone's been holding out, half off makes it cheap enough for buyer's remorse to be impossible.

I couldn't agree with you more. Actually I could since you imply that MNC is a great game - hell there's even an indie game on the same genre that I found to be more enjoyable - but aside from that, you said it all.

I finally decided to try and finish up Shadow Complex over the weekend (did manage to finish Limbo) but I remembered why I stopped playing in the first place...that part where you have to jump over the 2 electrified pools of water. I must have tried it 20 times before I quit. Anyone have any tips?

Other than that, it's a great game.

@baby sea tuna

use your foam gun in the middle to create a small platform to jump off of. attempting to sprint/jump is nearly impossible. i always say, if it seems "too" difficult, maybe i'm going about it the wrong way.

already have Shadow Complex, Limbo, Trials HD, Castle Crashers.

I think Limbo was overrated, Trials HD is only fun for the first few levels imo. Castle Crashers and Shadow Complex are worth their full retail price, definitely get those if you're deciding what to pick up.

Monday Night Combat and Trials are not my cup of tea, but I hear they're popular. I've owned Castle Crashers for years and have beaten it several times with a bunch of friends. Fantastic fun. Shadow Complex is also a great game. In a world without a proper 2D Metroid, Shadow Complex fills the void.

Then there's Limbo. An extraordinarily average game that's gained far too much praise. I bought it when it was on sale New Years Day expecting the best thing ever and was disappointed to find an average puzzler with better-than-average visual style. Be warned before you buy Limbo– is is NOT the greatest thing ever.

@Fuzunga

Well i don't think that people went into it thinking they were getting "the greatest thing ever" for $15. I'm guessing that the greatest thing ever is going to cost at least $16.

If you didn't like it, cool, but to a lot of people (including myself) it was a great game, and far beyond an average puzzler.

Be warned before you buy any game - it's probably NOT the greatest thing ever. Also, read reviews, that's what they're there for.

Limbo is an above-average puzzler in my opinion, but I do see where you are coming from. For some reason the video game media all fell in love with Limbo and hyped the shit out of it. So it's a very good game, probably one of the 10 or 15 best on XBLA, but overhyped beyond belief!
