The question now is, how much would this new device sell for? $250-$300?

@AlvinRod i think the maximum price for the wiihd should be 300, but if the 6'' control tablet it true, it could raise the price

Well, rumors are putting it at around the 360's power. That means that even if they added a blu-ray drive and the screen on the controller, I'd venture to bet it would be about 299. If the current consoles can produce the graphical power (roughly) this will for that price, so should it. The screen shouldn't cost much for the controller, especially since they won't be using motion control sensors like in the Wii's controllers, which should save them some money.

How am I a did for noting that the system has been described to be more like a Gamecube than a Wii? They said it had no motion controls, and a controller more like a Gamecube. How does that make me a dick for pointing that out???

I was referring to the new Nintendo console being described more like a Gamecube. Wait, were you thinking I was making fun of the Wii for being like "two gamecubes ducktaped together"? What is this 2006??? Give me the benefit of the freakin doubt.. geez.

Concurred.

And for God sakes, Nintendo, how about a f*cking Greatest Hits lineup? Would it kill you to drop the price of your five year-old Zelda launch title to something under fifty dollars?

I've been eyeing a Wii for a couple of months now (DKCR is calling my name), but at $170 and just one game? That comes damn close to the price of a 3DS.

I find it rather ironic that, at the beginning of this generation, Nintendo chose to produce lower-end hardware in order to appeal to a more casual (and thrifty) demographic...yet five years later Nintendo is the only company that would rather drive a nail through its theoretical dick than drop the price of their system.

C'mon Nintendo...you're breaking my balls, here...

At this point, I wouldn't even recommend a Wii to a new buyer due to the lack of a player's choice lineup. With a PS3 or a 360, a new buyer could flesh out their collection with the best first party games for $20-30 a pop. My Wii collection is about 1/4 what my GameCube one is.

Are all of you guys kidding me???

Want Wii games for the cheap? Stop bitching about an out dated "Players Choice" system and get on Amazon.com and start paying half price for any Wii game you could ever think of.

Wait let me help you out: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000FQBPCQ/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1302924604&sr=8-1&condition=used
or how about http://www.amazon.com/Okami-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000Z9A95M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1302924604&sr=8-3
or even http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000FQ9QVI/ref=sr_1_1_olp?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1302924703&sr=1-1&condition=used
and before you say "oh some of those are used" I always buy used on Amazon and get unscratched like new games every single time.

I don't understand why Nintendo would release the price NOW when they can reduce the price after announcing a new console.

Because by dropping the price pre-announcement they can lure those few people still considering the Wii who may not buy it if a new system is on it's way.

They want those last few dollars squeezed out while they have the chance.

I guess you could use that argument, but I just assumed that anyone that doesn't own a Wii now probably wouldn't buy a newer high end console. The lower price of the current Wii would be enough to get them to buy it. Backward compatibility is not really a concern then.

So you totally fell for the fake video, right?

Let's see here. Valve is known for trolling people. They uploaded videos that are SUPPPOSEDLY the end ON THEIR OWN YOUTUBE ACCOUNT.

So, you create a user name, and presumably spam the link, thinking your are spoiling something? You got played. And not only made yourself look like an idiot, but are helping Valve further the fake ending.

There was a guy named "Portal2spoiler" running around to different posts, posting the "spoiler" about the ending, and linking the video.

The moron thought he was spoiling people, but what he was doing was falling for Valve's trolling with the fake ending. They uploaded the video to their own damn account.

So this moron thought he was doing the trolling, when he was being trolled himself. He was trying to do the "Snape killed Dumbledore!" thing.

They deleted his comment.

I wouldn't say it's crap per say, but if you're a fan of Nintendo from the NES-GC days, it's safe to say the Wii was a bit of a disappointment.

To be honest, I think I'm the only one really who doesn't see the screen in the controller as a sign of them being "gimmicky" again. It sounds like they're going back to the Nintendo I grew up with, plus some new innovation beyond graphical improvements. While I'll wait until Playstation and Xbox release their hardware before I make a decision, despite feeling burned by my purchase of the Wii, I'd very much consider getting Nintendo's new system if it's what I'm envisioning in my head.

Oddly most Nintendo fans are saying Wii is Nintendo at its best since the NES days, since they're making the NES and SNES style games that made them great initially, and not the N64 and GC style games with which they descended into mediocrity (i'm not one of these, as i started gaming period with the N64), but there's a strong voice for the superiority of the Wii compared to everything but the NES

It's already $150 and tax free (in most states) at Amazon...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045F8QDE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?t=slickdeals&ie=UTF8&tag=slickdeals&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0045F8QDE

Well...$150 assuming you use Amazon frequently enough that a $50 gift card is the same as cash.

@Mr Khan

First, financial success does not mean you have a better system with better games. So just because the Wii sells the most, does not mean the games or hardware are better, just that the market Nintendo cornered was larger than the competition's. (ie: a market I am not apart of).

Second of all, I don't think the NES-GC years were unsuccessful. It's not like the Wii was a blowout success, and until then Nintendo didn't have diddly squat. Contrary to popular belief, the GC sold very very well, and technically made more profit than it's neighbor, the Xbox. For a company without any other source of profit to fall back on, Nintendo did phenomenally well with the GC. The NES-N64 were smash hits, so those don't really apply to your point.

Hopefully you understand this. Then again, you were the one who said Geo Hotz was right last time you posted and Sony was wrong, so your opinion is already something I'd consider twice about being right.

Mr Khan:

You are (once again) completely right and well stated. Especially for someone that didnt start gaming until N64.

Wii is Nintendo at its best since SNES.

Freakin' rumors.
Something makes me wonder if Nintendo's ultimately behind all of this.
Maybe it's a way to create more attention for the company.
The more I think about it, the more this seems like some kind of campaign.
And I still don't believe E3 2011 will show Wii's successor. It's not time for that yet.

No one is right or wrong, it's opinion. Wii isn't what Nintendo is in my mind. It's not what they ever have been.
