Watch 12 minutes of gorgeous Battlefield 3 gameplay
102
Just before GDC, DICE walked us through a 12-minute gameplay demo of Battlefield 3. You've already seen bits and pieces of it, but now you can watch the entire thing. (Protip: When you go shopping for new PC parts later this year, bring this with you.)

It's just all the trailers tacked together..nothing new :(

@plbelanger A lot of the bits are extended in some way. EX: Parking lot firefight is twice as long, the QTE sequence is longer, the M249 sequence on the bridge is longer.
But most of it is too familiar to seem interesting or exciting.

Yes, I'm sure he's upset that the Call of Duty franchise will continue setting sales records and raking in amazing profits.

Until we see what the console multiplayer experience is like, this has no relation to CoD. Ya dig?

why did you get downvoted? I love BF as much as everyone else here but COD is still gonna sell millions and its DLC will still be bought by all you morons downvoting this guy for saying something thats true.
all Bobby will do is looked stunned, under pay some Devs, and make Call of Duty: Battle Field... and guess what, you're all gonna buy it anyways.
Enjoy your hypocrisy guys

Cuz that's what = quality, right, kid? I always LoL at you cod-kids who can't stop watching this BF footage and get all defensive over your little Nickelodian arcade shooters... =)
And at any rate, I just don't see that happening again. Yeah it'll sell a helluva lot because that's what fat little ADHD kids are addicted to, but there's only so many years in a row you idiots can defend and worship and idolize the same rehashed photocopied game. BF3 is going to destroy COD this year. But you go ahead and stick with your kindergarten camos, leet t0m0haWx and 'asplodin' kr0ssb0wz and magical perks and small-map p2p twitch gameplay full of lag.
Have fun with that =)

I don't think Ezio was necessarily defending the CoD franchise, so much as making the admittedly true statement that these two franchises appeal to different audiences and don't really affect each other. Saying that Bobby Kotick is scared of how good a Battlefield title is, is funny, but not based in reality. That's like saying that Michael Bay was worried for Shia LeBeouf in Transformers because of how good Jeremy Renner was in The Hurt Locker. They're both action-y flicks, but they focus on different things and go in different directions. Same with these two franchises.

Why in god's name are they advertising Battlefield 3 with single-player? We don't need more Modern Warfare imitators, we need an amazing, strategic, combined-arms multiplayer title in the vein of Battlefield 1942.

True that. They're probably doing it though, because the single player is usually the most criticized aspect of Bad Company. I sure hope they have an equal or greater amount of effort going into the multiplayer, because that's what it's all about!
On another note, I squealed when I saw the cockpit view of the jets. :D

I honestly could care less about single player. Battlefield is about huge maps, tons of vehicles, unlocking achievements / weapons, improving stats, squads, commanders, and 64 player maps.

I feel sorry for you.
To say that, you must have never worked as a team in any of the previous games.
Countless times in BF2 and even BC2 my friends and I have worked as a squad and raped. Infact, when you start to get playing against other groups its amazing..... smoking between houses, running in clearing, a squad can turn the tides easily (well, unless you're boxed in on operation hastings but :D)....
Hope they bring the combat rose back, sad about commander though, giving orders to your squads, if everyone got in sync...omfg...awesome experience .

They used a SINGLE GTX 580 for this gameplay and everything is maxed out. It's playable on a GTX 560ti or HD 6870 on med-high settings. If you want 3D you'll need TWO GTX 560ti's or TWO HD 6870's. Like Bad Company 2 and MoH, multi-core processors are supported.

@Mr Hett
The system requirements might go down slightly from now until the game goes gold. We might see a few image quality enhancements here and there if we're lucky (most likely lighting, shadowing, and post processing), but I imagine that, by the time BF3 launches, a GTX 560ti should be able to max the game out with low-level AA; pre-alpha builds aren't exactly well known for being incredibly well optimized for the hardware they're running on.

@Mr Hett - Maxed out at what resolution? That makes a huge difference. I'm in the market for a new video card right now, and I'm trying to decide which one is going to let me run Skyrim, BF3, and ME3, at maxed settings and 1920x1080 resolution.
The GTX580 you list as having been used in the video is five hundred dollars. If that will run it at max, I'm going to have to make do with whatever a $200 card (like the HD6950 or 560 TI after rebate) can run the game at. Hopefully either ATI or Nvidia will step up to the plate and lower one of their higher cards down in price, just for the launch of the Q4 titles. They might cut their margins a bit, but they'd sell an assload of cards that would otherwise get dusty sitting on shelves, waiting for the 1% of gamers that purchase cards in that price range.
(or whatever percentage of gamers can actually afford that)

That wouldn't be a big seller as compared to a game based on Mid-East conflict. Also yes, I'm well aware of how depressing it is to mention profits while talking about any sort of war -_-

Intense. Looks like they really put some time into the environment: the lighting, shadows, textures, sound and smoke effects are incredible. Multiplayer will make or break it, but I've got to think DICE will nail it. Definitely one of the titles I'm looking forward to most this year.
