While this is a good deal for a few games. If your looking to get a nice round about Sega collection you mine as well get Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. That's on sale at amazons for just 15 bucks

http://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Ultimate-Genesis-CO-Xbox-360/dp/B001G3AZS2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1303262158&sr=8-2

That has any Genesis fans collection of wanted games.

* Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
* Alien Storm
* Altered Beast
* Beyond Oasis
* Bonanza Bros.
* Columns
* Comix Zone
* Decap Attack starring Chuck D. Head
* Dr. Robotnik's MBM
* Dynamite Headdy
* Ecco the Dolphin
* Ecco II: The Tides of Time
* E-SWAT
* Fatal Labyrinth
* Flicky
* Gain Ground
* Golden Axe I
* Golden Axe II
* Golden Axe III
* Kid Chameleon
* Phantasy Star II
* Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom
* Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
* Ristar
* Shining in the Darkness
* Shining Force
* Shining Force 2
* Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
* Sonic 3D Blast
* Sonic and Knuckles
* Sonic Spinball
* Sonic the Hedgehog
* Sonic the Hedgehog 2
* Sonic the Hedgehog 3

@Stevetrop Man of Mystery

My understanding is that the Genesis games offering online co-op in the Collection are incompatible with their Arcade equivalents - can someone confirm this?

E.g. Adam has Golden Axe 1 arcade, Mark has the Genesis Collection - but they CANNOT play together online

Actually, the SUGC doesn't have any online play at all. It's strictly local multiplayer.

Which Sonic would be worth getting?

I'd say just 1 and 2 (never played 3). Sonic and Knuckles was pretty poor in terms of boss fights, level design and bonus stages. Although for 120 points, you might still find it worthwhile.

Totally disagree about S&K, except for the bonus stages, which couldn't measure up to Sonic 2's but I definitely prefer them to Sonic 1.

excellent =)

but whatever happened to all the talk about Saturn games being released on Arcade? I really wanted to experience Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers, Sonic R etc again, and surely Daytona and Sega Rally should be staples in the marketplace

i never owned a saturn (was always a nintendo kid growing up), but panzer dragoon saga is one game i would love to play some day. have heard only good things about it, and since i loved orta on the xbox i would probably love it as well.

speaking of last gen xbox exclusives, where the hell is our arcade versions of jsrf and otogi 1 + 2?

Saga is definitely worth it, absolutely amazing game back in the day and arguably a precursor to the design philosophies of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

Strangely enough, I never owned a Nintendo console and was always Sega =)

The Saturn, like the Sega CD, is notoriously difficult to emulate properly. That's why you'll see plenty of Genesis and DC games, but none of them.

Sonic 4 is now at a reasonable price IMO.

Now all that needs to happen is that the deal comes to PS3. :(

After the end of the year, you won't be able to buy it. It did get yanked from PS3 and PC though, or at least from what I gather. How exactly this works, I am unsure.

@dukefett You CAN'T anymore on PSN... you CAN on XBLA until end of 2011.... Get it now!!!!! (Joystiq mistakenly reported until "end of the year" last year (2010) but meant until end of 2011)

Hey guys do you still think I should wait out for more games to be added and better deals or should I buy the Dreamcast collection?

Getting the three Dreamcast arcade releases separately during this sale ought to be cheaper than getting the Dreamcast collection, so I say go for it.

How is Rez HD not part of this? I know that the company that is now Q? made the original, and is credited on the XBLA version, but they were working for Sega at the time.

Yeah, I can't believe they are charging $15 normally for that POS game. I will buy it when it is 5 bucks or less, just because I want to own every Sonic game they put on XBLA. I wonder why Sonic Spinball isn't on XBLA? Hmmmmm.

I really hope Sonic Generations is finally the game to bring Sonic back to his roots, but I'm not holding my breath. The Sonic Cycle never fails.

Grabbed Sonic 2, 3 and S&K last night. Had a blast. Easy as hell achievements too (e.g. for Sonic & Knuckles: Fun Guy - finished Mushroom Hill Zone)

Love how you can do the "lock on technology" as bonus content if you have all the games.
