I´ll wait one year and the remaining will sell at 20.....It´s sad to see this but it was expected, this is what happens when a company like sony thinks that they are gods and can ask ridiculous amounts of money for a system that never offered anything really good besides patapon, even if fan boys hate it the reality is that the king of handhelds has always been nintendo, sony did a lot of mistakes with the psp and at the end this was the result, and the same happened with the PS3, sony really believed that the name PS was more than enough to force people to waste all the money of their wallets, well.... be careful sony... I´m starting to see a story that i already knew here.... the name of that story was: SEGA.

Uhh, would like to point out that this is only the PSP Go which has ceased production. The PSP will live on with the continued production of PSP-3000 units.

Nice speech though. I liked the part where you didn't back up any of what you said with fact. Good job. A+.

do you want backup?? well, ending the shipment of a system that JUST STARTED is more than enough proof, how about just checking the numbers of the NDS which is the biggest seller for nintendo?? why the psp has NOT done the same?? it has better 3d, bigger screen so what was wrong?? do you want more backup?? how about the xbox who is now the number 1 console completely destroying the playstation who used to be the king of the consoles but it´s not anymore??? of course if you are a fanboy who likes to jump when sony says so then that´s fine. At the end is not the fanboys who keep sony alive, and this is another proof of it.

the proof is the proof, when you have good proof it is proof that it is proven.

Hey fellow gamer, just back away slowly and shhhhhhhh. Live to fight another day - you kind sound like a fanboy yourself...of sorts...though it's so confusing I wonder if you are a) drunk b) 12 or 3) not a native english speaker. The wheels are spinning, but we're not getting any.where. and not to nitpick - but when speaking of Xbox, please be sure to specify - old Xbox or 360. They are two different machines.

At any rate - the PSP has been no failure, the Go didn't work out - but it's not the sound of bells tolling signaling the end. Hardly.

Have a good evening!

And YOU are the one who is talking about confusing (useless) text.

oh, and to be honest when you say the words: success+ Xbox that can only mean ONE THING. The 360.... i don´t think something so obvious should be named, everybody knows the first one was a big fail, it´s impossible to assume that we are talking about the first xbox when we talk about success.

>At any rate - the PSP has been no failure, the Go didn't work out - but >it's not the sound of bells tolling signaling the end. Hardly.

just ask sony how much money they lose for this, i don´t think they made it for peanuts, and whatever you like it or not the first PSP has never been anything special, or a real threat to the NDS, no mater what the fan-boys think as i said, the numbers are there, nothing else to show the real success than the numbers ......

I liked the look of this PSP, but the major problem behind it (besides the obvious overpricing) was that it could not play any of my current games and I did not feel like paying more for the same, just in the digital form. If they just had found a way for us to play the games we already had on this, it wouldn't have been so much of a failure. They were banking way too much on newcomers to pick this up.

Exactly. That was the biggest issue the entire time, they were trying to market to new customers, instead of marketing to new customers AND respecting already existing customers who might've been looking for an upgrade.

That's like, when Sony announced the PS2 Slim, as if they would've said:

"It does everything the original does. Except it costs more. Oh, and there's a new format for the PS2 Slim, so if you wanna play games on it, you'll have to buy them again on the new format. And the old PS2 can use both formats. And no, you can't convert or trade your old formatted games for new ones. Oh, and the new format costs the original price of the game, and will probably stay that way. Also, not all games are going to be in the new format, and we can't promise you that they're going to be from now on, but all games WILL come out in the old format."

It was just one thing after another, after another. I mean, think about it: Why pay extra for a PSP GO when you can get a regular PSP, a memory card and the option for both UMD and the same downloadable games available for the Go? It makes no sense.

The saddest part is that I like the physical concept of the Go much more. If they just stuck the Go build and added a UMD port, I'm sold.

yea i love Sony and the PSP but this iteration honestly had no market from the get go. they expected you to pay more for something that does less. they almost set it up as a completely new and separate console but without any new features. i think it was more of an experiment to see if the world was ready for full on digital distribution, but they marketed it so poorly, there is no way they got an accurate sample. i tried one in Gamestop, and it's really a nice a little device but as an owner of the OG PSP since 2005 with a fairly sizable collection, there was no way i was hitting reset on that collection just to have it. i love all my Playstation products but this one is just a reminder that occasionally Sony gets drunk on it's own kool-aid and tries to sell things based on brand alone. it's that same notion that makes me wince at the thought of how much the NGP will cost, but at least that is a fully new experience so it'll be at least somewhat justifiable.

No, because in R&D it's free. The device itself isn't bad at all. The support and marketing for it were.

I grabbed one for $100 used, threw on an open firmware to run UMD exclusives like Birth By Sleep and it's amazing compared to my old 1001. So remove the excess price and open up the available games and it's a dream machine. Not to mention an awesome SNES emu on the go. ;)

Yeah, fck off man. I've bought the original games on SNES (which is the reason why I'm attached and wanting to play them again), buy them when avail on portable (I own FF4A, FF5A, FF6A, FF4DS, and Chrono Trigger on DS) - or other means (purchased a few SNES titles on Wii Virtual Store when I lived with my bro).

So if I've purchased games when applicable, SEVERAL TIMES, cut me some slack for wanting to have them conveniently available.

Its one thing if he was pirating Portal 2 on his PSP, but really? SNES games? Nintendo hasn't made a profit from the SNES since at maybe 2000. I have a SNES emulator on my phone, does that make me a pirate?

I couldn't justfify the purchase of a PSP Go, they should have done what the PSP Go does at the beginning, once you have your UMDs, why bother with the more expensive option of DLC.

See with NGP I'm more likely buy into it as it starts off with DLC.

I think they're still going to keep supporting it, just like how Microsoft kept supporting original Xboxes and Xbox games up until a year ago. Sure, won't do it forever, but they'll most likely still take repairs and do firmware updates for the Go.

i'm sure the price will drop significantly now due to it being discontinued as stores try to sell off their stock. Toys 'R Us used to have a lot of nice deals when clearing out old hardware, not sure if they still do but i remember great deals around the end of the Dreamcast's life. if i can find one for $50, i would probably pick it up as an emu machine since it's controls are WAY better than my Android phone.

Sad they let it get to this point. You'd think before the system went down the drain they'd try something, like.. I donno, having a massive PSN sale that mirrored real world store prices?

That and they never seemed to be on the ball when it came to releases. I called them last year when I still had my GO, and asked them why a handful of games I wanted still had yet to be put on the PSN. The rep told me devs weren't required to put PSP games on the PSN.

Well, that was a big freakin mistake, Sony!

I have a PSPgo and I think it's my favorite PSP.

The build-quality is the best since the PSP-1000, (2000 and 3000 were crap,) I can use my bluetooth headphones with it, the screen is epic, (No ghosting OR the 3000's scan-lines,) I love the smaller design, the analog stick is actually a lot more comfortable to use because your thumb rests stretched out on it rather than being squished into your palm like all of the rest of the PSP's... It it just awesome, and my favorite until I can get my hands on an NGP.

I had already bought most of my games on PSN anyway, so switching over didn't bother me... I still got every game I play on it. (I'm not into the whole japanese games thing, so not having FF or KH doesn't bother me one bit.)

God of War, Wipeout Pure/Pulse, SOCOM's, LittleBigPlanet, etc...

Plus it also helped that I got it for $160 at the Dell website a year ago....

I really wanted a go...I personally feel very strongly about doing away with physical games on a portable platform...but when big games like Birth by sleep weren't going digital as well as alot of other no brainer games, it was kinda the nail in the coffin. Even then...unless my games are going to be backwards compatible anymore, I don't really want to buy it since I'm a half the game now, the other half year later and in this case I'd have to pull out an old system...call me lazy...but too much trouble....

A lot of games take longer to download then it would be to just go to the store though. Especially me, who has a gamestop 2 blocks from my house. Plus, you can get better deals at retailers then over PSN. I think digital should be an option, but not the only way.
