@shinjix2 Just because PSN is down doesn't mean you can't go into your webrowser and complain to Sony on the forums and whatnot.

Actually it does, evern their login screen for the PC web is down. If you are already logged in, your good. If you are logged out and are attempting to log in, that screen will only show an error.

Trust me I'm 2 days dry from running my remote races for GT5. Serious withdraw.....

Ah, so this is why I couldn't get in to PSN thru MediaGo last night...geez, Sony. I've been really giving my PSP a workout lately and it seems like every time I'm ready to drop a lil cash in PSN lately, something's wrong w/it. Last time this happened, that anonymous group had PSN screwed up. Interested to see what the issue is this time.

Tried to connect over Wifi on my PSP last night. Oddly it had me do a system update to get on the store and then it didn't let me in. I am usually up do to date on updates because I log into the PSP store often. Weird that it sent out a PSP update and I didn't see any news on it.

Anonymous is not a hive mind full. Just because a few people stop doesn't mean a whole other group won't continue or even start up just to piss people off.

@Haizeus Yup - Anon are a group of peeps who do what they want, and don't always talk with each other - so Anon can say what it _is_ doing, but it can't say what it isn't (because it can't see what everyone in the 'group' is doing).

Odds are this is Anon, there are other possibilities, but they're less probable. And if it is, just shows them up for being the morally and philosophically bankrupt idiots that they are.

I sure hope it's for maintenance. I've been having trouble all week logging in, and last night I couldn't sign in at all. If this is the result of further 'hacktivism' I'll be mightily disappointed.

you do realize that people are locked out of games that they did pay for, right? not just PSN?

at least when Live goes down, you can still play any of your games.

this whole "no servers = no games" policy will bite them hard when they decide to shut it down. it's a lot of patches across a lot of developers to ensure that people will still be able to play the games they paid for.

I understand your reasoning, but when I pay a nice price for premium apps like mlb.tv (and not to mention the lesser cost Netflix), I want to be able to watch them. Some people do more than just play games on their ENTERTAINMENT systems you know...

I'm not trying to be an ass, I really don't know what you are talking about. I don't have any games that require me to be logged onto PSN to play. Is MAG one of those games?

correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can still watch netflix and MLB.tv even when you can't connect to PSN. I believe you can also go on the web browser. I mean there are times when I sign on under a different user that isn't connected to PSN so I can watch netflix without getting game invites

When I can't log onto the playstation network, I can't watch netflix or mlb.tv. I know this because I can watch either of these on my computer so my internet is working(though I would much rather watch these on my hdtv rather than a small computer screened). I am all for the free PSN service, but when I can't watch things I pay for...that is when I get upset.

DC Universe Online. There is no single player component. If PSN doesn't work, you can't do anything more than look at a load screen that says you have to be connected to PSN to continue.

Worse yet, players paid for the both the game AND a monthly subscription. So, yeah, I'd be a little upset if I was trying to log in and PSN was unexpectedly down (several times in a month).

To my knowledge, there are only 2 games that require you to be logged in to PSN to play : Final Fight: Double Impact and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. Both of 'em have DRM where you need to be signed in to the PSN account that bought 'em to play 'em. Every other PSN game that I know of, minus the online multiplayer components, can be played fine offline.

Try watching Netflix right now. You can get to the menu to select a program to watch but it will never retrieve it. Or Hulu Plus, you can't even get to the menu screen for that.

You CAN login to netflix without signing in. I did it last night. It'll ask you to sign in a few times and fail but after about the 3rd time the netflix page will just load up and you do as you do normally.

I can live with the odd bit of downtime here and there, but when its for several days, like this, & for the socom4 launch - that make hulk angry!

PSN goes down on the launch date for a game that uses a new network integration feature, doesn't seem like a coincidence. Hopefully they get it up again as soon as possible.
