Joystiq Podcast 177 - Porthole edition

Are you ready to start off the weekend with some talk of light bridges and Flubber™-like substances? We have just the team to deliver that. If Portal 2's Wheatley can be completely engaging with only one eyeball at his disposal, imagine what Chris, Justin and Ludwig are capable of with a combined six!

It's not all Portal 2 talk this week, though. The guys also share their thoughts on Nintendo's purported Project Latte -- err, Cafe. It is said to have a six inch touchscreen on the controller. If any company ~~could~~ would do such a thing, it would be Nintendo.

What is the appropriate amount of time to wait before we can start discussing and speculating the apparent link between the Portal and Half-Life2 universes? The "hidden experiment" in Portal2 strengthens the link that was first established at the end of HL2:ep.2.
Long story short- I just want some Half-Life3 news, dammit! ;)

Well, one could assume by a certain fmv scene that the half-life 2 conflict comes to some sort of a happy ending at some point... So... Ep 3 spoilers in Portal 2?

I actually remembered to listen live yesterday, though I did mute it during most of the Portal 2 discussion. I'm sure there weren't any real spoilers, but sometimes even hearing gameplay described is kind of spoilerish for me. I didn't want to learn about the new mechanics because I want the joy of discovering them on my own.

Playing co-op with my wife is the true joy though, the rare experience where both of us are on the couch laughing and giggling like a couple of kids, both from the humor in the story and the general gameplay shenanigans.

@Courtney Indeed. Couch co-op with the wife is where its at! I hope my wife will give it a try. She liked Resistance 2 but dislikes most first person perspective games.

I do in fact have an account at co-optimus (used to be this pic, is now a nuclear looking symbol)! I still lurk there, just don't interact as much. I'm not really on blogs near as much as I used to be across the board, business has been a lot busier the last few months.

Agreed. The Podcasts are shorter, less interesting, and a lot less funny. Getting fourth place in the webby award should be a nice wake-up call.

The humour in the co-op campaign is far beeter than the single player.. couldn't stand Wheatley, he was a moron

@Lepton1000 I am genuinely confused by your statement. Why would you want a games podcast to not be insider baseball? Isn't that kind of the point? Why would you listen to a games podcast that gives you a simplified, generalized outline of the discussion, wouldn't that be just like, a general life podcast that dips into games at a point?

Good movie sequels: Godfather 2, Aliens, Terminator 2, The Dark Knight, Spider-man 2, the Two Towers, Superman 2, Empire Strikes Back, X-men 2, Dawn of the Dead (original), From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Toy Story 2, the Good the Bad & the Ugly, and the Road Warrior, to name a few.

Debatable ones: Lethal Weapon 2, Die Hard 2, and Batman Returns.
