"why not join us in trying to remember exactly what kind of "Partial Nudity" is featured in Final Fantasy 6?"

You did steal enemy soldiers clothes in one part of the game. I guess...

They probably mean Terra's limit break where she turns pink and goes practically naked just with no features.

The partial nudity stuff refers to the sprites of some monsters. Specifically Goddess and the second tiers of the final battle. Those are humanoid monsters wearing only a loincloth, which were much more revealing in the original Japanese version than in the American one.
Here's the original Goddess sprite, for instance, and then the American one :

@Senor Whopper Fun Fact: Setzer was designed by Tetsuya Nomura, as opposed to the rest of the characters who were famously designed by Yoshitaka Amano.

Speaking of Nomura, what's he doing right now, today? Because I'll be very upset if I ring his doorbell, he answers it, and I don't see the jolly look on his face he would inevitably have from developing Kingdom Hearts 3.

What I wouldn't give for a modern, HD Final Fantasy game that actually had in-game visuals that looked like Amano's artwork...

http://www.cesspit.net/drupal/storeroom/misc/amano.jpg

Like that, only...in motion.

Nomura's art design just ain't doin' it for me. Spiky haired me-too's with comically oversized sneakers.

I'd be a lot more excited for this if it wasn't for the god awful load times (with black screens actually programmed into the game for them, so increasing disc speed wont make a difference). I'd honestly play any version but this because of how bad the load times were.

As much as I'd kindda want to be excited about this, its a port of the PS1 port of FF6. That's the only version of FF6 I haven't beaten multiple times, due to the horrible loading times. Menu, wait 5 seconds, fiddle there, leave, wait 5 seconds, remember that you forgot something in there, menu, wait 5 seconds...

Even still. Best Final Fantasy game.

Fairly certain that's due to the optical media on the PS1. Like with most PSP games that no longer use UMD for their download releases, you should expect a very noticeable reduction in load times. I'm hoping for zero load times, myself.

@Xoonaka Oh, you're up here too. No, the load times are actually pauses. The game says "pause for 5 seconds before proceeding to battle screen" rather than "pause until battle screen finishes loading." Unless they do something to fix that, running the game on a PS3 or PSP will be just as slow as running it on a PS1.

@Faceless Troll Absolutely no way. There's no English version of the NES FF III. Games on the Virtual Console go by their names from their original American releases. Final Fantasy IV is already there as Final Fantasy II.

@Faceless Troll No. A translation of the DS version is not the same as a translation of the NES version. The DS version is a remake. It doesn't have the same script or the same amount of text. The DS translation has almost nothing to do with the NES version.

This game was also rated by the ESRB for Wii last week (as Final Fantasy III), so a Virtual Console version is probably coming very soon. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out Monday. That's the version I'll be getting. The PS1 version has those terrible load times and will probably cost $2 more than the VC version, which will be a perfect SNES port.

By the way, Final Fantasy VI is my absolute favourite game ever. Just thought I'd put that out there. :P

@Roto13 Then it was more likely the original Final Fantasy 3 for the NES. Every other rerelease since the PS1 has called it FF6.

Really curious what they are going to charge for these. Final Fantasy Anthology for the PSone (in the US) had 5 and 6 together for a normal prince. Same with Chrono Trigger/Final Fantasy 4.

As I understand it, the only game missing now from PSN is Final Fantasy IV. Japan's PSN has I-II, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX. I'd say it's also missing III, but III was never released for PSOne, which is very strange to me. Anyway, I have FFIV for PSone on disc, but it doesn't work properly when played on a PS3. So I've been hoping that it will hit PSN with the graphics fixed.

Rather get it on the Virtual Console when it hits. Yes, you have portability with the PSP, but the load times were atrocious in the PSOne port.

@Xoonaka It's because the load times are hard coded into the game. It doesn't pause until it's finished loading, it pauses for a predetermined amount of time. That means running that version of the game on anything is going to have the same effect.

@Xoonaka Every other game on PSN that had similar load times are identical as they were on the disc. I don't see why FFVI would be any different.

There are a lot of benefits to having the time of a load be static rather than dynamic, especially on limited hardware like the PS1.

The partial nudity warning is not because of the game, but the guy playing it. It's never wise to wear clothing on extended game marathons, as FF6 is prone to cause, because sweat builds up in the fibers and starts to stink.

FFVI has only been released three times. One is bogged down by load times, but easy to find. The other two have differing translations and are both impossible to find.

Any digital port of the game will make this game accessible for the first time in years.
