Binary Domain snatches up an 'early 2012' release window

It's been a few months since we heard anything about Binary Domain, the sci-fi shooter from the Yakuza team. Sega has now situated the game in time -- a time other than its year-2080 setting, that is -- providing an "early 2012" release window.

The trailer after the break introduces the story, in which humans in a futuristic Japanese megalopolis fight against murderous androids who have infiltrated society. Sure, the gameplay's totally different, but we're going to pretend for now that this is the Snatcher sequel we never got.

@Assmar Uh... those are robots. If you don't start paying attention, you'll be the among the first of the Terminated.

I think I hooked up with that chick during Spring Break few years back.

That game looks pretty good. It has a great storyline too - kind of like I, Robot, but better and with more violence.

Is this the answer to my request for a video game adaptation of John Carpenter's They Live?

Hmm, interesting... given how generic a premise this has it actually looks pretty good.

Looks pretty interesting. I hope the story is well developed. I like how they took the real world's Shibuya Crossing and made it all future-y.

What's with action games having a trio of "White guy, black guy, and asian girl" though? SOCOM 4.. this game... Mercenaries 2. There's probably other examples.

Narrator sounded like the voice actor for Lightning in FFXIII

Ever heard of Blade Runner?

I dunno... yeah, the trailer is hot as hell but if it plays anything like Vanquish (and it certainly looks like it does), I'll pass.

If it doesn't play like Vanquish, it's a pass.
No matter how dope/fresh the setting, it gots to haves the gameplay to tweak my Gears. *cough*

Unless it is a superfly dope/fresh setting. In which case it may get slogged through just to get tasty plot vittles. Which would mean the team was better suited to make an animated feature than a game.

I tried to like Vanquish, I really did, but I just don't get it. I've played the demo twice and I found no difficulty in that.
