PSA: Call of Duty Black Ops 'Escalation' DLC out now

The Call of Duty: Black Ops "Escalation" DLC is available now on Xbox 360 for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15). The pack contains five new maps and ... wait, wait, this totally deserves its own paragraph.

And: "Call of the Dead". It's a new zombie mode map featuring Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy: The Vampire Slayer), Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund, the ever-present Danny Trejo (Machete) and The Walking Dead's Michael Rooker -- oh yeah, and an undead George Romero.

The Call of the Dead looks very cool. My son will be all over this...when PSN gets back up. Mind you the maps usually take a month or more to arrive on PSN anyway. We have an X360 too but he prefers playing the PS3.

A few years ago when people were still doing this, it was generally accepted to place sunglasses on, and THEN deliver the pertinent wordplay/pun.
To do it backwards like that is so mavericky, it almost makes up for the banal cliche' tripe that it is. ;)

I was disappointed at how big the past maps were. I want something nuketown-sized. A couple of maps on the video look like they might be smaller, anyone care to comment?

With you, last maps were a total let down but zombies was amazing. Wish they would release them separately at 7.50cad each. Till then no more spending on activisions pocket raping schemes.

I agree... but I prefer the Firing Range sized map. Stadium was just a little too big and Nuketown is a little to granade spamming. I'd love to see something mostly inside a building with hallways and stuff (a la Counterstrike). Love to see another game type too since I mentioned Counterstrike. Anyone remember having to rescue the scientists??

@Biggen: I never got too familiar with MW2. But I loved Dome on WAW.

@Xreadmore: I was a big Wii shooter fan back in the day, and MOH Heroes 2 had actual public lobbies (no codes, no invites, just open it up and the people flood in) with modifiable rules. Sewers was the small map of the game and I became famous for hosting guns only sewer matches, usually with about 20 people, but I think you could set the limit as high as 32. I miss lobbies. And dedicated servers.

I ran into a friend on Sunday who was pleading with me to pick up BLOPS so that we could play this zombie mode together and some store has it on sale this week for $40, so naturally I picked it up.

Just kidding, I got Portal 2 instead. Sorry Tracy.

I doubt it. Probably not enough child heroes, obtuse menus, antiquated control schemes, and too many darn save points.

I just gave in an bought Battlefield Bad Company 2. So long invincible host.

surprised how many people hate on the last map pack, i thought it was better then both modern warfare 2 packs and i don't play zombies so i haven't even played ascension.

Ya it's weird how many people vote for the non-new maps. I found myself hating them at first but after playing for a while and getting int a comfort zone, I really like them! Especially Kawloon (or whatever it's called).

Call of the dead looks awesome. It sucks that i gotta pay for the multiplayer maps when i only want the zombies map. Also it sucks that ps3 owners gotta wait a month thx to ms.

Joystiq makes it read asif Call of the dead is something seperate ontop of 5 new maps. Isn't it 4 multiplayer maps and call of the dead?

Because for Activision to be putting out 5 new maps, call of the dead with no trophies, bonuses or meaningful additions would've been REALLY pushing the boat out.
