Is Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, and sequel to ACII? I loved the story of the first 2 games, so I was wondering if Brotherhood continued it. I might have to go play it.

@Stilkdog - I'm hoping that, since Ezio is confirmed to be in Constantinople in the 1500's, both Altaïr and Desmond will be there as well.

Imagine that, as Desmond, you're in a desolate, nearly destroyed building that houses an artifact (Codex page, perhaps?) that was placed there before Ezio's time, but after Altaïr; you can't make hide-nor-head of what goes where in the building. Ezio's version of the puzzle has the building in near-perfect condition, but a runic puzzle to access the artifact has been vandalized, possibly by the Templars who couldn't solve it. Go back as Altaïr, find the runes and make note of them, come back as Ezio, solve the puzzle, locate the artiact, add it to the collection, and Desmond has his information.

It's like a dual-world idea without the terrible dark/light aspect, just "old" and "older" versions of the same place.

THAT would be pretty effing awesome.

@Nintendo Tim you mean like Ocarina of Time where Link swaps between Adult Link and Kid Link?

@MDizzy - Precisely, but with the added third layer, and a much grander scale. Sadly, there would be key differences:

In Ocarina, playing as Child Link would alter the landscape for Adult Link to solve puzzles (Spirit Temple, for one).

In the Assassin's Creed lore, you are simply accessing memories of ancestors; doing something as Altaïr wouldn't necessarily alter the landscape for Ezio or Desmond, unless that alteration was supposed to happen. There are 300 years between Altaïr and Ezio, and 600 years between Ezio and Desmond, whereas Link only had 7 years between Child and Adult forms; altering the landscape would be much more plausible in Ocarina with less than a decade's worth of time between both forms, where Assassin's Creed spans nearly 1,000 years between ancestor and descendant.

Yeah, that's a bit of a relief. I mean, don't get me wrong, I loved Ezio in 2 and Brotherhood, but I was really looking forward to playing as someone else. It will be good to play as Altair again, if that's what this means.

@liquidsoap89 What the hell?!? We have all this potential to experience all new settings and characters and we remain stuck in the world of Ezio again. I really enjoyed 2 and Brotherhood but there are so many amazing historical eras that are being passed over. This just sounds like a safe sequel with a cash-in yearly title. I would have loved to visit British occupied India, battled through the Boer Wars, taken part of the Russian Revolution or the French... I will still buy this game and I am sure it will be great. I just wish we could have seen a bit more imagination.

I dont care much about which assassin it is, the location is what matters most. Just please no more Italy. Italy was surprisingly disappointing, all the areas were the same as all the other areas, AC1 had way better environments and atmosphere.

Not very likely. Even though at the time they were all Christian empires, the architecture and inspiration for most of the architecture of the Holy Roman Empire, was radically different than from much of what was influencing the Papacy out of Rome - they even practiced Christianity radically different in the East. So Constantinople, should have a radically different look and feel to Rome. Definitely more minarets and domes and a rounded architectural influence overall, and less columns and towers and blocky architecture of the West.

@A Sandwich Depending on which persona we'd be playing it as. Altair's version would be very Roman, and Ezio's version would be very similar, but with some of the Islamic influence beginning to take hold.

Desmond's version, obviously, would be very very different.

I wonder how they're going to use that little grappling hook thing attached to Ezio's blade. Obviously that's the new weapon Game Informer was saying would change the way you navigate the city. But I'm wondering if it will be used in combat at all.

Nah I love this series too much,

But this is the last spin off game I'll buy (in a row),
Assassin's Creed 3 better be after this:
set in a completely new place, new time zone, and with a new Assassin storyline.

@Qehb I would really prefer no more freakin assassins. Desmond is the fulcrum of the whole story and through the course of 3 games they've given us about an hour of plot development for him. He spent the whole last game learning to be an assassin, NOW LET HIM BE ONE!!!

I'm getting so aggravated. It's painfully obvious it's going to end up being a futuristic assassination game with guns vs. wrist-blades while you play as Desmond and personally I CAN'T WAIT for it. All these tweener games are just getting in the way of that.

And a side note: I don't get people's investment in Ezio, and even less so with Altair. Altair had almost no story and Ezio's was cliche and stupid. I only care about the real story, which is Desmond's. They need to flesh it out and give me a real sequel already...

@TreeFoxx

I wouldn't say its "painfully obvious" that we'll be playing as Desmond for the majority of the last game. We'll certainly always be playing his relatives, and hopefully they'll give him something more to do than repetitive shoddy platforming around the Villa, but I wouldn't say anything about this series' story is "painfully obvious."

I'm sure this game will be good, but I don't like the feeling it brews in my belly. I'll be surprised, and impressed, if its more than "AC: Brotherhood +++," so I'll try to keep the negativity at bay until we know more.

Ubisoft Earth's design philosophy for this series is starting to look like Pizza Hut's pizza design philosophy, though. I'd rather have a pizza with new toppings than a pizza with mostly the same toppings, some cheese pumped in to the crust and a free chocolate cake.

This blows. They could have explored history and unique environments so much more. But nope, just gonna reuse those assets for all they're worth and play it safe. Lame, Ubisoft.

@A Sandwich what game was constantinople in? it should be mostly new assest, probably just reusing some building structures or npcs or something. its standard when you get this far in a series and its the same engine: you use what you already have, upgrade it to work with newest version of engine, and you dont have to waste all that time remaking new assets, which allows for more time to add new stuff to the game

@Mrguy The American Revolution would be an interesting setting for plot purposes, but the levels and environments would be pretty boring IMO. The French Revolution would make for better environments, and a much more interesting story to boot.

@Epoque - It's not inconceivable that they could have a character go from England (which would be architecturally interesting), to America (during or before the revolution) and then to France during the revolution. That would take another two or more games though, just like it did with Ezio, and you are right in saying that the levels set in revolutionary America would be boring because of the architecture (including the low height of buildings).

This is what happens when you milk a franchise for yearly releases. :(
