Hitman: Absolution revealed in teaser trailer, next stop: E3

It wasn't much of a puzzle but we think we've finally got it all put together. Remember that Hitman ARG that culminated in the above screen? It's a grab from the game's teaser trailer, which developer IO Interactive just shared with the universe. And the game's official title? Yup, it's Hitman: Absolution, just like that trademark application hinted it would be.

Lastly, if you're wondering when you're going to learn more about Agent 47's latest, we're going to guess that the highlighted "110706" in the bar code at the end of the teaser strongly suggests a June 7 reveal at this year's E3. Watch out!

Update: Square Enix just shared the press release, which has a couple more details. Hitman: Absolution is being built "from the ground up" on IO's new (and proprietary!) "Glacier 2" tech. That tech is going to power "much-loved classic gameplay with completely new features never seen before in the Hitman franchise." To learn exactly what those new features will be, you'll have to wait until E3 where Square Enix says Absolution will be showcased "by invitation only." How exclusive!

my favorite mission was from hitman 2 where I pretended to be a Doctor, went in, performed open heart surgery on my target killing him, then I left without anyone noticing lol

The people that enjoyed the glitch filled Assassins Parody left behind on the PS2.

I remember having to practically kill a WHOLE board full of people because every time I drug and hid a body, i switched clothes only to be detected or the body be found anyway, as i progressed through the level.

because i literally did not see anyone ask for a new hitman game, and i can make a list of games that have been overly asked for, but a new hitman game was the last thing i expected. Good to see it has support though.

The reactions here seem a bit overboard. Hitman games are passable but I don't think one has ever gotten close to a 90% aggregate review score.

Most of them end up somewhere between 80 and 90%. But for me, and many others, it's one of the most original and creative IP's ever. It's so fun to spend hours on a strategy on how to pass a level without being spotted.

((On another note, i dismiss the Splinter Cell comparisons. They may be the same car (Stealth) but they have completely different engines. ))
