I'm glad the two podcasts won't be fully gone, but I am sad to lose the goofier/spontaneous atmosphere. It sounds like the new show will be more professional-sounding, which yeah is great because it'll be more informative, but I'm worried won't be as amusing to me. I will be happy to be proven wrong, but right now this is a rather bittersweet moment for me.

RIP X3F and the Joystiq Podcast

@Gaddes

I've been reading this site since before Chris and Justin even worked here. I've listened to the podcast since day one.

Guys... I trust you to do us right. But I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't worried. This is 80% of the reason I even come to the site anymore, and the other 20% is being ruined by the idiots allowed to post in the comments. Moderators and even forums are really needed. Anyone with a different opinion, regardless if they back it up with logic, is voted down in seconds. It's out of hand.

Anyway, that's not why I'm commenting. I love your show, it's the biggest reason I come here, SIX years now. The seemingly "unprofessional" way you do the podcast, and the checks and balances between you three is the MAGIC that makes it incredible. I can't see breaking it up anymore than it is being a good thing. I love all your guests, especially Griffin, but without you three talking about, steeds, chocolate logs, laser combs, and Chris' 18 month old games... it will not be the same.

I trust you guys. But please..., a plea from one of your oldest fans, don't goof it up.

This is exactly why I left Joystiq the blog. It is extremely aggravating to read news and feel like I cannot join in on the discussion because the environment is so hostile and not conducive to discussions in the first place. Sexism and racism abounds in the comments. I love the Joystiq guys but I have not been able to bring myself back to a community that isn't ready for women or intelligent discussion.

...I know there are exceptions, and I fell in love with a lot of regulars here, but the rest just got to me.

@BobbyRobby

what i'm gathering so far is that they're reformatting the podcast to make it more relevant to contemporary video games. granted, i'm only fifteen minutes in, but at least they aren't cancelling the podcast indefinitely.

that being said, please don't pull a stunt like this again, you guys. i know it was all in good fun, but creating such massive hysteria, especially in regards to something people genuinely care about, isn't the right way to introduce a new endeavor. my heart can't handle this type of stress.

I think I will miss the old format. It wasn't perfect but it always felt personal in that it didn't feel over produced. I hope the new show doesn't lose that feel.

The Joystiq Podcast is pretty much my favourite podcast on the net, and I listen to quite a few. It's pretty depressing to hear that it's ending, but as long as you guys (Ludwig, Justin and Chris) make a regular appearance on the new podcast, I'm sure the Joystiq show will prove to be just as entertaining and memorable as it's preprocessor.
I wish you all luck with the new Podcast. I'm putting my faith in you so don't mess it up!

I'll listen to it this weekend, but if all the above is true, I'm really going to miss this. This is hands down my favorite podcast. As others mentioned, it always felt very personal and had good listener involvement.

That said, knowing a podcast will continue in some form gives me hope. Cheers to the future!

i havent heard the final zode, but it sounds like they are about to IGNify the Joystiq podcast. I hate IGN podcasts. They are like the naked news - they have two things I like (news and fun), but mesh them in the wrong way. Bombcast does it ok.

A big draw for me has always been the interaction of Chris+Justin+Ludwig. I actually enjoy when Chris talks about 2 year old games because I'm also a "limited time" gamer. I JUST finished ME/ME2 last month, e.g. I hope that we'll still get to hear from all 3 of you on a regular basis.

Still, I like the changes discussed for Joystiq Podcast: The Next Generation. Looking forward to seeing what you guys put together.

Same here. Not everyone who listens to the show plays the hot new jams every week. Hearing about the new stuff is cool, but I really appreciate Chris putting older games into context. Do they still hold up? Have they been overshadowed by something newer?

There is a chemistry that is lost when rotating guests get brought in. I recall the first time Richard was brought into the Joystiq podcast. Afterwards I had no interest in the X3F. He just didn't say anything which is understandable since he was a guest. Hopefully the new format addresses that kind of liability.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt of course and d/l the new show day one. It gives me solace to know that they care so much to do this kind of thing in the first place.

How could you guys be so selfish!? After all these years. The main reason why I listen to your podcast is because of your romance for videogames and the brotherhood you guys give us listeners. A'lot of podcast are based on this. Thank God, the Giantbombcast will be my number one "hanging out with friends and geek out" podcast from here on out.

Yep. Switched to Bombcast after Joystiq blew their casts up.

I will definitely give the new Joystiq Show a chance, but for now the Bombcast will tie me over.

Man, Joystiq. Way to f'n mishandle a show upgrade. You are the PSN of gaming podcasts.

If you are tired or doing something go out with a bang, dont just tell your audience: I am bored, I dont want to hang out with you anymore.

That's too bad. I don't really like the sound of what the new podcast will be. I only really care about listening to Chris Justin and Ludwig, and I'm not interested in random staff showing up on the show. The only person I enjoy listening to aside from those three are Griffin, so I guess I'll just stick with the Giantbombcast.

Anyway thanks for using my photoshop(i know its missing some punctuation there's an updated one on the JPAG though). Hope the new show can rise from the ground like the Chilean miners and Thanks for the Podcast, it was a good run.
