Rumor: God of War PSP collection coming to PS3
45
The so-called "God of War Portable Collection" is headed to PS3 in Asia this July, according to a reported press release sent out by Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan and posted by international gaming news outlet The Magic Box. While we could not locate the press release on the SCET website, it does appear to have been redistributed on additional news sites, including China Times, a major Taiwan-based media company.
According to The Magic Box, the collection will include graphically enhanced versions of the two God of War PSP games, 2008's Chains of Olympus (pictured) and last November's Ghost of Sparta. The HD ports are said to include both Chinese and English language options and will be packaged together for release in Asia on July 7. It's not been specified whether the collection will be disc-based or digital (or both).
Additionally, no development studio has been attached to the project. The PSP games were created by Ready At Dawn (Ghost of Sparta in collaboration with Santa Monica Studio). Last fall, Ready At Dawn co-founder Ru Weerasuriya said the team had moved on to an action-adventure game based on new IP.
The original God of War Collection, an HD-ification of the first two PS2 games, was released as a single-disc compilation for PS3 in November 2009. A downloadable version followed a year later. We've contacted SCEA for comment on the Portable Collection.

If this is true I will be very happy. Don't have a PSP so I missed out on these games.

@ObiBen8 Chains of Olympus is awesome, one of the games I miss after selling my PSP. If this is true I will buy it day one since I never got to play Ghost of Sparta.
Now if only Rockstar would do the same thing for "The Warriors".

by the time these came out, my launch PSP was starting to break. some buttons were sticking and i was getting ghost movement from my analog nub. i pretty much stopped playing it instead of buying a new one or fixing the old one so i would love the chance to play these on my PS3. if this drops, consider it sold.

I hope this is true since the God of War games are some of the only games on the PSP I want to play, but since I don't have a PSP I'm missing out on them.

There are a few nice titles in the library besides these. Mega Man Powered UP (MM1 remake), Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (MMX remake), Dracula X Chronicles (Rondo of Blood remake with unlockable SotN!), both Metal Slug Anthology and Metal Slug XX, Tetris (on PSN once it's back up). Then again I never finished any of the God of War games on PS2, because appearently they're not my thing. But seriously buying a PSP was almost worth it just for the Metal Slug games.

Well that's weird. Neat, but weird.

Wasn't there talk of releasing Chains of Olympus on the PS2 way back when? Either way, all we need now is a PS3 box set of all 5 games in chronological order (6 if you want to be crazy and count that mobile release).

I'd be down for this but it'd have to be 30 like the other GOW collection was.
(It was 40 first but went to 30 real quick)
Personally though while not sony i'd love to see a HD Collection of Metal Gear that included the PSP titles and a Silent Hill Collection.
Get on it Konami

Chains of Olympus is awesome. Haven't got to Ghost of Sparta yet. Despite playing my PSP all the time I still haven't run out of things to play on it despite the popular belief that there aren't many games on PSP.
Currently playing Daxter on PSP which is awesome. I think it is becoming my favorite game on PSP now.

Yeah, I've been playing Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, started Dissidia 012 and just bought The 3rd Birthday day before yesterday. I'd gotten so bored with the PSN outage that I went and finished Terra's story in KH BBS, started Ventus's and was about to start T3B but then PSN came back on. That doesn't even account for the original Dissidia and Crisis Core FF7 that I still have to beat/play through.
PSP's got some killer games. If you have the PSP component cables, you can hook them up to your TV and play your PSP on your TV. That's what I had to do with Dissidia 012.

Chains was great but Ghost of Sparta was...meh. The brother storyline though compelling, was done really poorly.

Nothing like Kratos to help me forget that after I buy my digital copy of this game my credit card info will then be stolen and used to purchase a bj from a Taiwanese hooker!

ok, this is stupid the god of war games are part of the PSP's allure, why would you put them on the PS3 i spend $40 for both of them and I can't sell them back for that much since I download them from PSN, this is pure trying to milk the God of War franchise ever since it ended wow I'm pissed, I mean remaking God of War 1&2 is understandable since the 3rd is on PS3 and those are on PS2 but come on remakeing psp games on the ps3 that is just pure despiration foir money.

O_O
Or drop the PSPgo price to $150, and offer a special God of War edition for $200.
It would include:
this epic blood-red PSPgo, (http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/12/3/1623319/God%20of%20War%20PSPgo%20back.jpg , http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/12/3/1623319/redpspgowithscreenshot.png) with a chrome graphic fitting the PSPgo nicely, both games pre-installed, and a digital movie of Kick-Ass or Red or something.....
Brilliant!!!
