Grab LA Noire at Kmart this week, get $20 credit and a free game
63
Most of you early adopters have likely already secured your copy of LA Noire, but if you've been holding back, Kmart's deal might just bring you down off the fence. From today through Saturday, May 21, any purchase of LA Noire will secure you a $20 credit good towards a future gaming purchase, good through July 2, the Kmart blog has announced.
If you head in-store, you also earn a free game (no accessories or points cards), valued at $19.99 or under. A nice little list is available over on CAG, showing off a wide variety of games to choose from including Alpha Protocol, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Mirror's Edge, No More Heroes and a lot more.
There is a catch: you need to be a Shop Your Way Reward member and head in-store in order to get the deal. But, honestly, it's not much of one since signing up is free and you don't need to be a detective to know people always want more for less.
[Thanks, Eric]

This just makes me even more sore that Amazon's stupid "release day shipping" completely failed me. That's nice Amazon, the $5 compensation will really let me get over not playing the game for at least 2 f*cking days...

@Gaddes Did your copy ship from Phoenix, AZ via UPS too? I contacted Amazon about the delay and they actually gave me a $10 credit. Yeah I want the game today, but the extra $10 helps the wait.

boohoo, didn't you already get an additional $10 credit for pre-ordering?
No one beats Amazon.

I did this today, got L.A. Noire + Alan Wake free + 20 gaming coupon towards a future game! Love Kmart!

What? Alan Wake was 29.99 at my Kmart. I so would have gotten that instead of Lost Planet 2.

yea always ask for price checks at K-Mart. my local one almost never updates sale signs, which really isn't a bad thing because the casual shoppers usually aren't attracted to the deals by the lower price which means i get typically get my pick of the lot come deal time.

Yeah, heard about this deal a few days ago and signed up for that thing. Going sometime this week to pick this up, can't wait to play it and get a free game on top of it.
Anyone know if we need to have reward points to use the deal?

You need to be a Shop Your Way Rewards (SYWR) member. You can sign up for this in-store or online. Regardless, do this BEFORE completing your transaction!

A co-worker and I went to Kmart today, to snag this deal. I got Lost Planet 2, and he got Rock Band 3. Not a bad deal. Now I just need to figure out what to purchase with my twenty dollars in game credit.
By the way, every Kmart that I have been too, is extremely ghetto looking. I live in Mass. and the one in Hyannis and Milford, both are very ghetto looking.

yep, all kmarts are like that, even clean ones look trashy because of low lighting and the store set up.

I just did it and its like getting LA Noire for $20. The free coupon is going towards Alice or inFamous 2 or Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition or anything coming up... This is pure consumer competition MADNESS!!!
Keep in mind the $20 coupon has a expiration date. You have to use it withing 2 months.

Hey all, please be aware that this offer is IN-STORE ONLY! AND YES, THAT INCLUDES THE $20 COUPON!
If, like me, you're nowhere near a Kmart, Best Buy has an online-only offer for a $15 gift card. And yes, that purchase is available for store pick-up.

That wouldn't be so bad, all the Best Buys in the mid-TN area seem to make a point of almost exclusively hiring women that are easy on the eyes.
That's about the only positive thing I can say about Best Buy - though it could of course be construed as something sexist and discriminatory, so maybe not :p

I don't even know if we have a Kmart in my city.
Posted: May 17th 2011 7:57PM kentuckyfried said
@Faceless Troll These deals are great, and I love that Kmart is being aggressive about being competitive, but it's somewhat cancelled by the fact that large parts of the South Bay in CA, there's no longer a Kmart nearby unless you want to go drive out to Redwood City or San Mateo. I sometimes go just b/c it's 10 min by freeway from work, but even then, when it comes to using credits up, it feels like a hassle at times.

really? good tip. i was planning on hitting up this deal on Thurday or Friday so i'll be sure to take a look at the lightning deals tomorrow. i don't know though, it's going to be tough to beat L.A. Noire plus $40 worth of free games. and i've already put together a pretty substantial list of $19.99 games i could go for.

Even Kmart can beat Gamestop's pricing and deals... why does anyone shop at GS anymore? I switched about a year ago, trading in and buy to amazon and will never look back.

A local Play N Trade near me was infinitely better than Game Stop and always had good deals and prices.
Sadly, I'm guessing that's partly why they had to close last month.

i feel like GS is mainly for young kids and parents or generally people not 'in the know'. i can always find better deals online than in GS and their employees are usually dicks. last thing i bought at GS was the PS Move Sharpshooter and that's only because i wanted to preorder it to make sure i got one.

I picked this game up for $20 including first day shipping from Amazon (stacking up of pre-order credits). AND I get an extra $15 one for pre-ordering L.A. Noire from them. So effectively, I've gotten this game for $5, that's unbeatable.

Waiting on the inevitable $20 price cut on Amazon next week, will also make the obnoxious pre-order "DLC" easier to swallow down the line.
