LA Noire's 'Nicholson Electroplating' DLC case opens June 21
22
"Nicholson Electroplating," L.A. Noire's first DLC add-on will be released via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on Tuesday, June 21. Vouchers for the apparent arson case -- outed earlier this week -- were handed out, sparingly, at Best Buy launch events for the game. Rockstar has posted a redemption page for the vouchers, which notes the release date of the DLC.
We've contacted Rockstar to find out how much the case will cost those of us who got to Best Buy just a little too late.

I think Rockstar is busy trying to figure out why people's games are freezing.

My guess for individual cases would be either $2 or $3 each. It's a nice little way to make money. Any more then that and I'll be out.

How long are these cases? I don't have the game, and I can only assume around GTA-mission length.

cases arent missions, theyre a series of missions, like episodes

@XRZ36 a mission lasts around 5-10 minutes (further on in the game) in GTA4 cases last triple that and more if you are looking to do it well (especially searching crime scenes if there is loads of clues to find) so yeah 45 mins or so... not worth more than $3-4 a pop

I've just finished the Black Dhalia case and that was pretty long; although I did spend a while getting some of the rare vehicles. I reckon $2-$3 is about right if the cases are about an hour's worth in length. The cases appear to get longer the further in the game you go.

We can hope, but they're likely to charge $5 or so.

This game is cool. I would like to get all of the xtra cases but I'll wait til all the cases are together in 1 package. Either on disc or download.

Yep. That's the way to do it. I'm hoping there's a disc sometime next spring with all the extra cases. Similar to Liberty City Episodes, maybe?

Yeah if the cases are short like 5 min I'll pass. Some of the first ones I did pretty quick since I let my partner drive

@Drdre74 - I'm still pretty early in the game but I think the first few cases are really short as their intended to be tutorials. Once you become a detective, the first couple have been much longer than those and I'm sure they get even longer as the game goes on and the cases get more complex.

how about putting everything you're working on into a game? And then maybe DLC 6-10 months down the road? This DLC after 1-2 months makes it just seem like a ripoff.

@briscott - Because people are expecting to hear about the next game a year later, not DLC.
Everything I've seen indicates that the GTA IV episodes were pretty much a flop compared to expectations and I'd say the biggest reason for that is because they took so long to release them.
Besides, with three DVDs worth of content, how on earth can you say it's a ripoff? It's not like they gave us a fraction of a game for $60.
They probably had extra content that has partially complete that they had to cut for timing/size/flow/etc reasons and decided to polish it up and sell it for a few dollars for people that want more. That's not exactly unreasonable.

Never seen any of those old movies or care to.

Sigh...I appreciate the idea of DLC as a means of future support for a game, but as a means of making people buy from a certain retailer, it reeks of corporate shenanigans because they'll charge money for it later when it was clearly ready and could have been on the disc.
In fact, I bet the ''DLC" is an unlock key.

@Red Runner Well seeing as The Naked City download was about 500 MB, I doubt that future cases will be unlock keys.

I hope they're just holding back pre-order DLC until PS store is backup. It would be crap if they made us wait months for those. I'm okay with pre-order bonuses for free but allow the other gamers to pay a fee for them a.s.a.p., that's not too much to ask.
