I preordered my digital CE, played for 3 weeks and never again... I wonder if it's worth coming back now.

@KazamaSogetsu The game is improving constantly. New RIFT's are a major plus.

Game is definitely better now than at launch, bringing many of the changes you'd see in games like WoW to the table, like a dungeon/WF queue. Only thing the game still desperately needs, IMO, is a performance pass. It's telling that I can run games like Metro 2033 and Aion on my computer at max settings, but have to downplay most of Rift to keep a mere 30fps, and visually it's nowhere near as grand as Metro or Aion.

Not much of a deal IMO game has been going on sale like crazy lately.
It's still a fun MMO though

Why is this news? Steam has crazy deals all the time, and usually for 50% to 90% off. Not sure why 33% off is news worthy.

@MrGreen

BigFat360 - I love Joystiq. Just some of these things seem like filler to me.

Mr Green - I wish I had a dollar for every fanboy who is mindlessly defensive about something without providing a single spec of a counter point.

Steam has had a bunch of sales this week. (and every week) And ALL of them were more than 33% off. Why weren't those big news? Yet the least impressive discount is the one worth mentioning? Makes no sense to me. Feel free to explain with your clearly infinite wisdom and insight.

Rift has a lot of buzz around it and plenty of people are curious to try it. It's taking on the king of MMOs and is doing a decent job of it so far. I think that's news-worthy.

Mentioning deals on Need for Speed or some random FPS just doesn't have the same gravitas. Ya dig?

That's the best deal I've seen thus far on the CE, but the normal one was $25 on D2D a week or 2 ago.

Is Rift worth it? An unbiased opinion, please.

@Typhonic I played it for two months and quit. It literally is like WoW style, with a couple added new things (i.e. RIFT, multiple trees) and has a different storyline. If you're fine with playing another MMO that doesn't really bring anything new to the table, and want a new story, go for it. I left because it didn't offer me anything new. Why sub to another MMO (I still play WoW) that is exactly the same? So I am trying EvE/Darkfall/just something that doesn't have the same gameplay. It's not a bad game by any means but just not anything new. As far as the multiple specs go it does seem that people are already sticking to a certain set instead of experimenting. Like when I was a tank I only chose Tank specs so it didn't really feel like the 'multiple specs' was bringing anything new, same with being a healer. I guess DPS it is different but if I want a good tank/healer in my group I don't want them messing with other specs. If you're not tired of the WoW style gameplay (i'm not) and want a different story then sure, go for it. There is a 7 day free trial now, you know that right?

@The Minn

He said "unbiased opinion" which clearly yours isn't since you're another "it's a WoW Clone" naysayer. Have you played it recently? No? Then you don't know what they've added. Your opinion isn't valid when you quit before they added stuff.

@Typhonic My opinion is biased though because I'd say get it, I think it's the best MMO I've played recently. If you're unsure and probably don't want to listen to biased opinions use the 7 day free trial and see for yourself. :)

Weird, not sure why it's saying I'm Unverified when I've had a name and userpic on here for almost a year now.

Rift is very similar to WoW, but I think it's a better game. If you like WoW and are bored with it, give Rift a try. It's fresh, and really well polished. The classes are diverse and interesting, the dungeon crawling is fun, even the raiding is fun.

Why would you buy anything at full price on Steam?

@sigma8

Normally I do only buy things on sale through Steam.

However, this time, my options were:
1. Buy it now at full price so I can play it.
2. Wait anywhere between 1 and 365+ days for it to go on sale, then buy it.

As it was just released a few months ago, I had to assume it wasn't ripe for a sale. Guess I lost on that gamble. Before anyone asks, I only use Steam for my digital game purchases, so the other sites are out. Amazon had a cheaper SE, but no deals on the CE at the time. Plus I hate waiting a week to get my purchase delivered.

All this will do is transfer the rift from my wallet to my life.
But then again, who needs social approval when I can get all my love from my online girlfriend-who-I've-never-met-but-hopefully-is-not-a-man.
