Killzone 3 welcomes back players with double XP

After giving PSN proper resuscitation last Sunday, Sony has detailed plenty of measures to win back the loyalty of potentially lost players. This weekend, Killzone 3 players get something more than the sheer pleasure of being able to play a video game online again: double experience until Monday, May 23 at 3AM EST.

Cryptically, the post concludes there is "even more" to be announced "at a later date." By "even more" we imagine Sony means "even more freebies" and by "at a later date" we imagine -- well, actually, that last one's pretty cut and dry now, isn't it?

You do realize that Little big planet basically gives free dlc everyday granted it's not straight from the publisher some of it sure seems like it none the less I agree some free dlc would be great!

On top of what we're already getting? Get out of here. Sony is already lavishing us with free crap and all anyone had to pay for it was a month offline. Not even that if you're like most gamers with alternatives.

@harzac I don't own it, but I heard something like that. Not to bash any user created stuff, but some nice from-the-developer level additions or new items/themes would probably be enjoyable

Yeah, that they're offering stuff you already own is Sony's fault. All that means is that they're putting up five incredibly solid games that are worth owning. I honestly assumed they'd put up five games from the first iteration era of the PS Store or possibly some minis. That they're offering quality games, whether you own them already or not, is admirable.

It's a lot of fun. Don't go in expecting it to be just like CoD though.

Do a lot of users still get on KZ3? Do they show numbers in the MP menu?

double? why not triple? ive been losing a lot of xp from frequent dc. that sux esp when i was on a long kill streak

I played last night. Was able to get quite a few good games in. And ended up with 19,975 XP on my last match, and I was in second place on my team.

So yeah, there are people playing and you can get lots of XP if you want it. I highly recommend hopping on some this weekend.

What happened to the double XP? I am still getting 50 points for a repair and 100 for a kill, so I don't see how it is double XP. Is it only in certain areas or something?

I believe it's multiplied at the end of the match.

I played a couple of matches and the end multiplier is still set at 1.5 and points gained during the match are still standard. I agree with Sir Darque; I just don't see double XP.

I was getting the 1.5, too, but I always got that (or at least, almost always). So, I was right. The double XP weekend didn't happen, or Joystiq got their facts wrong.

I play both, and enjoy them for different reasons. My biggest problem with blops is camping. I hate campers.

It be nice if I was able to actually connect to the damn PSN network! It's still offline for me.

Been playing Killzone 3 non stop this weekend since it was double XP. Awesome game, if you havent already got this game I highly recommend you give this a try. Best FPS ever!
