Rumor: The Penguin to terrorize Arkham City, his first picture revealed
51
Rocksteady has been dropping hints about The Penguin's involvement in Batman: Arkham City for a while now -- the most blatant of which being the appearance of the nemesis' Iceberg Club in the game's first teaser trailer. According to ArkhamCity.co.uk, Rocksteady marketing manager Dax Ginn recently spilled the beans about the portly foe's role in the upcoming crimefighting sequel to the Australian Sunday Herald, revealing the very first image of his in-game visage, seen above.
According to the site's transcription of the interview, Ginn explained, "The way that penguin has always been portrayed is as quite an aristocratic, well-spoken gentleman who's got these twisted delusions of grandeur." He added, "So we've made him a really horrible, nasty piece of work - but still with the delusion of grandeur. He dresses well, but in a poor taste, and we've made him this brutish, brutal guy but also key into collection fascination that he's had through out the years."
We've contacted Rocksteady to confirm the report, as well as Danny DeVito to see if he's collecting any royalties on the title.

I liked DeVito's portrayal in returns. Animated series, not so much.
I can't wait for this game!

@InDurdenWeTrust Danny Devito's portrayal wasn't really the Penguin--Frankly, it was a whole other character who just happened to have the same name, which was unfortunate.

Ice montage, but it froze on me half way through. YouTube can leave a chilly impression at times.

I think arkham city has enough bad guys, one of the things i liked of the first one is that a very compact group of bad guys were used with the joker as the "mastermind", if they start to add so many guys then the game could end up with too many characters for a nice development of the story, i hope they keep it under control, and this doesn´t end being a bad guys fest just because everybody wants to see them for at least 3 seconds.....

@Hunter141072 I hope every single bad guy is in this game and there is a hidden Mario Kart style mini game that utilizes motion controls!

Well, to be fair, Spider-Man 3 only had a couple of hours to tell their story, while Arkham City (if the developers are to be believed) will have a solid twenty to twenty-five.
Time will tell, but in any case, that looks like a pretty awesome take on The Penguin.

@Evin
nop i did that´s why i say this, reallly how many were in arkham?? the joker, harley quinn, venom, croc, the guy with the marks on his body sorry i don´t remember his name.....poison ivy, the scarecrow, many of those guys didn´t really have a major point in the story, some were eliminated with a singel batrang shot, the riddler didn´t even appeared, we were left with lots of bad guys that never appeared, even though we were at arkham, that was enough excuse to put them all there... but rockstar didn´t do that.... they used the right ones, and the story was developed in an excellent way thanks to this. But if you add too many guys, you end with a mess just like what happened with spider-man 3 like Rusty123 said, or what has happened with most of the super heroes games that exist, you end with a gallery of bad guys and the only excuse that the game has is to hit them all, it becomes a final fight, and i really hope rocksteady keeps this in mind, after all they did it with the first one....and it was a hit.

Exactly my point, there were a good amount in the first one, BUT you only fought with few, that´s why the story had a great development, all the "extra" bad guys were not really there for nothing but to present an additional challenge, but they were used wisely.... some of them were not even a big fight....Zsasz was a 5 seconds battle, Croc was more an additional threat to the level than a main boss, also keep in mind that must of those guys were not really "Main Villains" on the same level as the joker. But here in arkham city so far we have 3 Top Dogs: The Joker, Two Faces, and now The Pinguin.... That´s what I´m talking about, if you add too many top guys then there will be not enough story to develope them all, again just look how venom became a stupid anecdote in spider-man 3, i really hope this doesn´t happen here......

The Penguin should have been in TDKR. They could have modernized the character andmade him awesome. He also doesn't need to be deformed, "The Penguin" could just be a code-name for a guy who likes tuxedos.

I've never been a fan of Catwoman.
I thought that the Riddler and Hugo Strange would've made an interesting pairing, both working together to torment Batman psychologically with their eventual discovery of his secret identity.
But, in the end, I'm sure Nolan could manage to make Calendar Man compelling.

The plot should be interesting, kinda like in Returns where he tries to turn the city on Batman. I really hope they bring in Mr Freeze. Those two should be enough. Batman Returns is my favorite btw..

The Penguin. D'oh. He's stupid. Why not bring in a villin who hasn't been in a movie or game. Or better yet, just make one up. So originality would be nice.

The description sounds a lot like the "The Batman" version of the Penguin. A well traveled man from an aristocratic family who was also crass douche.

I don't know, this is not broken enough. Maybe the guys who decided not to use Arleen Sorkin can try and F this up.
