@Special Agent Steve

I think it'd be more sexual if you'd had said you wanted to fill his every pocket.

Just a friendly warning, Joystiq friends. Keep in mind that all new Ubisoft releases require a constant internet connection, including The Forgotten Sands.

I remembered too late, but at least I have Sands of Time to console me.

Not all. In fact, I think Forgotten Sands is one of the few that has that DRM still. They patched it out of AC2 and Splinter Cell Conviction, and AC Brotherhood doesn't have it...

...still, check the system requirements if you buy something.

@bigwhiteyeti are you absolutely sure AC2 & SC: Conviction don't have the infamous D.R.M.?

Not any more, no. There was such an outcry at its existence (since the AC and SC series are so popular), they modified it so that it only verifies once at your game start-up.

It's funny how inappropriate it would sound should someone replace "dog" with "girl".

Seriously? That's only about four gallons where I live. Hardly enough to fill a tank.

Are people still dialing in for their internet? Sure the DRM might sound annoying but when aren't you connected now-a-days?

Well see, some internet companies charge hourly for internet especially those in some parts of Europe and Africa. In fact, in most cases this is the only way to get internet in these places. It sucks especially for US service men serving abroad. So yes, there are people that are affected by this and it sucks royally.

@Vladeon Okay, that makes much more sense and I can totally see why people overseas and the troops would be mad. Thanks for clearing that up!

For a slightly less noble example, the internet in my bedroom (where my desk is temporarily located) often cuts out for a few seconds at a time.

Which boots you immediately back to the menus, meaning another pissed off legitimate Ubisoft customer...

Yeah, it really is the absolute worst idea (that has been implemented so far) for DRM. Honestly, I don't understand why they can't just use a Game Key like mostly everyone else does. I mean, they do, they have that too, but this UPLAY garbage is just out of control. The fact of the matter is this, hackers are always going to crack the cd keys of games and put up pirated versions online; DRM delays that for about 2 days no matter what kind of DRM they use. But it doesn't make sense to punish legitimate consumers that actually paid for the game for two days of sales.
