If a historically accurate WWII aerial combat game doesn't sound entirely thrilling to you, we'll give you another, admittedly biased, point of view from Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH's Martin Schneider: "For far too long, first-person shooter fans have been tied to the foot soldier point of view, but we aim to bring the seat-of-their-pants skill and daring of dogfighting and aerial combat to a wider audience." That wider audience includes Xbox 360 and PS3 owners, though Konami is notably shy about sharing a release window.
Konami announces Birds of Steel, a new WWII dogfighter from IL-2 dev

Gaijin Entertainment, the Russia-based developer behind IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, is returning to the skies with the suspiciously titled Birds of Steel. While notably not a part of the long-running IL-2 Sturmovik series, Birds of Steel does share its aerial combat and its WWII setting. The usual stuff is all here: historical and fictitious missions, lots of real planes, all spread across both single- and multiplayer campaigns. That multiplayer component includes co-op missions as well as your traditional all-out aerial dogfighting.

Seeing as how PC is the place for games like this, I don't really understand why this wouldn't be a PC game.
Unless they're trying to do the Civ Rev thing here, and that's cool. I love Civ Rev. But, this is a different type of thing.

I've always loved this genre, but I haven't found anything on a console that feels right. Hopefully this one will give me what I'm looking for

The realistic IL2 was created by Oleg Maddox. Cliffs of Dover just released. Been flying the series since 2001. Is the best WW2 Combat flight sim of all time. Of course it's PC only.
The console version mentioned above was a decent effort but it's just not possible on a console. No too mention it was horribly unrealistic and had serious flight model issues. I'm sure this new version will be no different.

why isn't it possible to do this game right, on a console? This generation of consoles are ++ powerful. Don't understand the PC only argument any longer. And this goes for most any genre.

I sure hope its good! Blazing angels was amazing on PS3 but it was okay on Xbox. I hope this one will be good on Xbox. Was that Hawx 2 game good cus i was thinking about getting it?

@Will96 NO DON'T BUY HAWX 2!!!!!!
I enjoyed the first one, but Hawx 2 is terrible in every respect; it was a cheap money grab and not worth it at all.
Ace Combat 6 is a better bet, as is Blazing Angels 2 or IL-2 Birds of Prey. I'd even recommend Over G fighters if you like more sim gameplay than arcade, but it sounds like the arcade style is more appealing to you.
Whatever you decide, DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON HAWX 2!!!!
