First Homefront DLC is 'Fire Sale' map pack coming June 7; 360 title update brings fixes, Ability Pack
27
When THQ promised a "wide range of exciting DLC" for its shooter Homefront, we honestly expected something besides a map pack. Nowadays, if your map pack doesn't have at least one celebrity in it, we're not even taking the call. Homefront's first piece of DLC is the on-Xbox-first "Fire Sale" map pack which "will carry you further into the heart of a war torn and twisted America." No word on the number of maps in this pack, nor the modes supported, price, or number of celebrity cameos. About the only thing we do know is the name and the date: June 7.
More concerned with being able to play the Homefront maps you already have? THQ also announced that a Title Update is available now for Xbox 360 that offers improvements to the game's "overall stability and network connectivity." Some of the higher profile improvements include: "game returns to MP menu instead of Main Menu after leaving a match," "Max ping limits for server connections" which should prevent connections to distant servers, "game freeze and hitching," and the "joining friends feature." As a kind of thank you, THQ is including the "Ability Pack" which features some new goodies for your multiplayer game. Get a full rundown at the Source link below.
[Update: THQ let us know that a PC patch went live yesterday and a PS3 patch is in the works, but has been delayed due to the PSN outage. And what about those details on the DLC? We'll get "more detailed information" on the 7th, we're told. In fact, it should be the most detailed information since it will actually be out and all.]

Do people still play this?

@Jay Z
Even though there are a ton of problems with this game, At its core, its a fun shooter that feels fair and dosent have that feeling of frustration that COD does.
So yeah, I still play it now and again. I might buy it for PC though, Because the console ones look too horrendous to play for too long, My monitor might suddenly melt in to a 480p CRT tv.

The source link says just two multiplayer maps?!?!?!? WTF. I'd been defending this game because I do think the multiplayer is a lot of fun. If it's just 2 maps though, the DLC better be free or it'd better include other game modes.

It's kind of hard to justify making quality DLC for a game which no one gives a crap about.

Does it fix the game from not being horrible?
I'm sorry but seriously I had to return this game nothing about it I found fun.
The SP was a huge let down and the MP was as well.
I guess I can see why some people like it, but man was this game just not for me.

I find it funny that most of the comments here are just asking how people could like a game that they don't or just asking if people still play it because they don't. Believe it or not, it was actually a pretty big release. Of course people are still going to play it. I can understand if you don't like it, but don't act like it's unheard of that people actually like it. Flawed as this game is, IMO, it's still enjoyable and I got enough hours out of it so far.

Does "Fire Sale" refer to the map pack or the way in which retailers are trying to dump this game?

Oh joy, DLC for a game no one cares about!

Too little too late.
This game was unfairly maligned, and I enjoyed the multiplayer aspect quite a bit. Unfortunately, it shipped broken and that's how it stayed until I finally dumped it off on somebody else. Kaos' compelling ideas about where to take the genre were mired by technical faults that just demolished the game. I'm sorry, but waiting 10-15 minutes in a lobby for a game to populate is inexcusable.
THQ was trying to compete with the big boys, but it was a whiff. You come at the king, you best not miss.

There was 305 people listed online via Steam stats at 6 pm PST yesterday, and the game wasn't even in the top 20 on last Xbox Live activity list, so pretty much nobody is playing it. If they want to bring people back they need to give out the DLC free.

message to THQ:
offer single-player content, or don't even bother.

I´ve heard good things about the online features of this game, but unfortunately I wouldn´t drop money on if it´s not possible to find enough people to play with. Just sad...

Waiting 10 to 15 minutes for a lobby? Never had to do that.
Story? Sure it was really short, but it's a goddamn FPS not an RPG, and I enjoyed the story quite a bit.
Servers? Never do I have a problem finding a full server to play on, I don't what you people are even talking about
It was an interesting concept, great story, short, but great, I really enjoy the online. I really don't see why ANYONE is complaining about it, unless you're just running about blatantly comparing it to Call of Duty, which is what every damn fps ever nowadays is subject too. At least Homefront had small things down, like CORRECT RELOADING, the guns felt nice too when you shot them. Animations could have been better but they weren't horrid.
