Konami reveals Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders, Silent Hill HD remakes

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will feature MGS 2, MGS 3: Snake Eater and MGS: Peace Walker -- strangely, the original Metal Gear Solid is absent. Why not just touch up Twin Snakes? Regardless, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be available on the PS3 and Xbox and support 1080p graphics and, on the PS3, a neat 'Transfarring' feature where you can transfer your Peace Walker game save from your PSP to your PS3.

As for Zone of the Enders HD Collection, it's a collection of Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2, natch. Little beyond its existence was given, outside of a tentative 2012 launch window. It'll also be available on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the former version supporting the new Transfarring feature -- though in what way we're still trying to get clarification on. Update: Our own Mike Schramm is on-hand at the Konami event in LA and asked for clarification on the Transfarring feature in ZOE HD. "Wait for future announcements," a Konami representative replied. Looks like we'll have to wait for that clarification!

The Silent Hill Collection will feature only Silent Hill 2 and 3, touched up in HD. No exact consoles were mentioned.

They also revealed they would be coming to 360.

I've never played a MGS game before, and as an Xbox 360 owner, was looking forward to Rising to get a taste of the series. Well, now I can finally get a chance to play them. Shame 1 and 4 aren't included....

1 is available on pc if you know where to look. Also on psp. Also on gamecube. It's worth finding.

4 is garbage though. It essentially destroys all of the awesome storylines built up by 2 and 3 and ruins half the surviving characters. And several dead ones.

@Noksukow It's too bad, I was quick to jump to the gun that this was a HD remake of 1-3.

1 is the best. So hopefully, something special planned for it. Maybe that's why MGS: Rising was delegated to another team, if Kojima himself was heading up some sort of complete remake of MGS1! One can only hope.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Kojima is remaking MGS1 for the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear next year. That's why they felt it unnecessary to release it in the collection.

Of course, I could be totally wrong. But I'd LIKE to be right.

I'd say they didn't release it because honestly, ps1 games don't scale too nicely to HD.

A remake? they already did that on the gamecube. I don't see them doing it again.

Now, a remake of MG1? Now that might happen.

Btw, on how many discs would that be on the 360? MGS3 Snake Eater took almost an entire disc alone on PS2.

They could have used Twin Snakes for the HD port. I don't see that being the issue. In addition, a lot more people have memories of MGS1 than the original Metal Gear game. (Which was technically Japan-only. The NES port was a complete bastardization.)

As I recall Twin Snakes was funded by nintendo and thus not really something they can port without dealing with them, I doubt they'd be willing to go that direction.

Got to agree. While I'd miss 1 if I bought this collection, I really don't mind the loss of 4. I'm sure it's great but it just felt like a different series to me.

if by funded you mean published, no. twin snakes was developed by silicon knights, but still published by konami. maybe nintendo had some say in the development of the title, but konami ultimately holds the rights.

Thank god,ive been wanting to play the MGS games and ZOE for quit some time now but have lacked the hardware and to be able to not only play these games again but an HD version is very welcomed news.
