Double the mediocrity for half the price!

Does it get any...more middle-of-the-road?

Can't speak for the games, but those movies are classics. I grew up on Days of Thunder.

Iron Man 1 and 2 the game are horrible.
They'd ruin the Blu ray the movie is on.

@PN04 I'm with you there. I'd be willing to buy a movie tie in game if it comes with the movie, but never the average asking price of 60. It would have to be 30 to 40 dollars, and 40 pushing it.

Uh, they're regarded as mediocre star vehicles for Cruise (the movies) and the games were bland arcade sim games.

You know, I wish the idea had been feasible in the NES days. I mean, if you were going to make me play that awful Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde game, at least include a complete text of the game on the cart!

I wonder if this will affect the movie transfers. Downgraded audio, perhaps. I mean, it's not like the games take up a lot of space due to their nature but it's still space and knowing how "clever" movie studios are at mucking up a simple transfer for most blu-rays, i wouldn't put it past them to doing something weird here, either.

@Mmmmz

those games were PSN downloads, there's no reason to remove any features. Anyway, most games (even AAA titles) barely fill a DVD, a single layer Bluray disc is 25 GB, there's more than enough room for these kind of bundles.

Yes, but again, uncompressed audio is massive and depending on the source audio and what the original blu-rays had (DTS, etc), it might take up a good portion of the disc.

Then it's how will they implement it? Will the disc need to be a special format, formatting can take up/lose space, or will it just be in a folder and boom.

I remember these; the manager at my local Gamestop was pimping these at me HARD, even after I said I didn't play either of the game genres or cared about the movies, he just went on until I forgot why I came to the store and left. The day i got fired by that company remains a good one in my eyes.

Days of Thunder was such a disappointment for even what I expected to be a bad game. It was awful, but you could see traces of greatness there. It didn't have to be terrible, they let it be.

Sad.

Hmm, frankly $30 are more than the movies are worth, and with the so-so games, I'm not really inclinded to pay more. Seems like a marketing gimmick to push the games.

@Mmmmz They should've just gave the blu-ray version of the movie and included a download code for the game in the packaging somewhere, seeing as both games are downloadable games anyway. Then they wouldn't have to mess with changing anything about the movie.

of course that both film and game industries want us to buy each separately at full price, but maybe these bundles should add value to older movies like these ones, and even if the games are mediocre at least you can keep the films if you like them.

Transformers, Toy Story 3 and Tron would be nice candidates for future bundles.

I'll stick with just getting the movies on BD thank you very much

Both those games are just horrendous and the fact both classic movies have their name attached to them just makes me cringe. The marketers should be ashamed of themselves.
