Peter Molyneux has just announced Fable: the Journey for Xbox 360.
The first-person Fable experience features Kinect integration, allowing the player to draw shapes in the air to cast spells. It also appears to be on-rails -- shades of Dead Space: Extraction?
@geishroy What did you expect? He's fixing everything NOT broken with his game yet again, while removing things that don't need to be removed and integrating things that were never needed, like he did with Fable 3.
Now we just need to wait for the dozens of interviews he does just to stroke Fable: The Journey's balls while he spits what he sucks out onto Fable 3 while calling it shit.
This sounds like an awful idea. It might be better than it sounds but to me it seems like they were taking away the few things that were fun about Fable and making a game out of what remains.
After the mess that was Fable 2 and the disaster that was Fable 3, I think I'm pretty much through with this franchise. I swear that I'm the only one that loved the first game and I still do. The others just are nowhere near as good as that one. It's a damn shame, too. The franchise had a lot of potential, but Molyneux just keeps squandering it. Who knows, if he were to step down and someone with some talent were to take over, Fable might actually become relevant again.
Trust me, you aren't. Me and my friends all loved the first Fable game, it was the only game to have any real charm or humor, afterwords its just degenerated into... god, several levels lower than shit.
I'm actually pretty done with the franchise as well, in truth. Missed out on Fable 1, Fable 2 was only really played by my girlfriend at the time (who loved it). I barely touched it. I beat Fable 3 but thought the ending (once you became King) was horrible. So, what's the point in playing an on-rails version of the franchise?
Really? did they really think the idea of immersion was to make it a FPS? lol, The First Fable is and will always be my favorite Fable, all the ones that followed have only let me down, and it seems they continue with that trend!
.................. ok thats it, am done with Fable, I mean really? on rails and its a FPS and in a world that dont have heroes some how your character can use magic............. yea done I loved fable 1 the humor and the story was pretty good liked fable 2 alot was improved and its true play them back to back and you will see it
Fable 3 on the other hand.... I dont know what they did with it, I did love the game menu, I just wished it had you know a better second half where me being King was important also the choices you as king were polarizing. I mean disturbingly polarizing
Also am King, why couldnt I undo all my choices after the event happens I mean its a living word right so why couldnt I ?!?!?! ehh I dont care I know its not Fable 4 so thats why they can get away with this but I cant get behind them on this I really cant
It seems with iteration of fable it get worst and worst. I know sequel are suppose to be a shadow of their former self but this is just sad. I still got no interest in kinect so i hope this game deliver for the people that are interested in fable journey.
@bargaingamer Well, a shadow of Fable 1 is Fable 2... Shadow of a shadow is Fable 3, and a shadow of a shadow's shadow, according to Adventure Time, creates a black hole.
Fable: The Journey is thus a black hole, and hopefully swallows up Molyneux, Lionhead studios, and the entire Fable series besides Fable: The Lost Chapters.
I remember a few months ago when rumors started up about Fable 3 being bad because they had planned the touch system and all that to be fully integrated with Kinect, and it had been pulled out to put it another game. But then, the other game is....this? An on rails shooter? What the balls?! Fable Kinect had so much potential! Holding hands and actually making contact with characters is not the same as shooting blue lasers!
This is the downfall of Kinect. Everything has to be on rails because there no good way to move your character around. It works fine for games like Child of Eden but Fable, Star Wars, etc. Boo!
I'll go in when Kinect+ is released. It'll have two gloves with analog nubs on each to move your character around. That way you can do all the gestures and still control the character.
Fable TLC was AMAZING. IMO it could even compete with Oblivion, especially in terms of graphics and story. From there, like a redundant sequel to a great movie, the games have gotten worse at the hands of the idiot Molyneux. In his efforts to introduce "groundbreaking" advances to Fable he's actually ruined what could have been so many good games.
The good thing about Fable, even until about the middle of 3 was still the story. The ending of 3 sucked and it looks like everything about The Journey will suck. I mean how in the world can you possibly expect an RPG to be "on rails"? I just don't see how this will work. What they should do is eliminate, or significantly reduce the role Kinect will play in the game, go back and look at what they did RIGHT in Fable TLC, put that back into The Journey, and make the combat a bit challenging at least
