There was a listing for a ME3 Collector's Edition earlier today on Amazon.com. It has since been removed, but it listed some pretty sweet extras for 79.99:
Premium metal case featuring commemorative artwork of Commander Shepard
70-page hardbound art book featuring hundreds of unique and gorgeous illustrations from the BioWare development team plus an exclusive 4x6 lithographic print featuring a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork
Limited edition Mass Effect comic by Dark Horse Comics, complete with unique cover artwork
Join the ranks of the N7 with the premium fabric N7 patch
A full collection of in-game content that can't be found anywhere else!

Aside from the patch and the exclusive in-game content, that sounds exactly like the ME2 Collectors' Edition and I was prepared to call shenanigans as such.

Great trailer. I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't come out until March, but then again, there is so much coming out in Q4 2011 that I should be grateful for any big game that is pushed beyond that window.
EA is bringing it right now.

I'm actually relieved at the pushback on this. I was worried when this was announced so soon after ME2.
As far as I'm concerned, they can take as much time as they need.

This was the last part I watched of the live stream before hitting the water park. Thank hell the Kinect stuff is just tacked on dialog tree stuff. I guess that might be cool for some people, but at least it's unnecessary enough where nobody will have to use it. God, I really hope they get closer to ME1 rather than stay true to what they did in ME2.

Bioware really got the action bit down. Rolling, faster gameplay, CQC. Now, fix the damnable level design, and I will feel even more amped about my inevitable purchase. 'Cause I'm buying this game regardless.

Good thing everyone on my team lived . . . after my second playthrough.

@Faceless Troll Everyone in my team died, except for Mordin and Tali. Turns out the game didn't warn me that I had to invest into those otherwise useless Normandy upgrades, in order for my crew not to die even before boarding the enemy base. Not great.

@Torticoli You're going through a Relay that NO ONE has ever gone come back from to at the least fight one Collector Vessel ship that absolutely murdered the first Normandy (through their stealth no less) and presumably a Turian patrol as well.
WHY wouldn't you think all those upgrades everyone so helpfully mentions wouldn't be useful? Now that there wasn't a real consequence for messing around getting enough ore (like the death of another colony at least or more built up defenses) is a game design issue, but I think everything but an overt glowing sign was pointing to needing to get some of those upgrades. The consequence being specifically losing squad members might have been the shock, but the likelihood of consequences themselves for shirking upgrades should have been evident.

The "correct" choices were easy the first time around.
You put the robot in the pipe. Duh. He's a robot. You let your buddy command the second team. He's your buddy. He has to do it right.
The only choice that makes me nervous is the final choice in the game.
**SPOILER ALERT**
Should I have saved the station? Who knows.

Does anyone else feels like, from that trailer, the ME franchise has definitely turned into a 3d person shooter, with the usual flash and noises, and isn't an RPG anymore ? Anyone remembers the soothing, yet dark ambience of ME 1 ?
Posted: Jun 6th 2011 4:07PM TheDarkWayne said
@Torticoli I remember slow and graceless movement, janky shooting, and a clunky inventory from ME1 as well. I certainly understand a lot of worries and complaints about it, but in a lot of ways, who cares? If the game lets you develop your character in terms of their actual role in the game's world, what's the big deal if you can't put +3 into Assault Rifles? Besides, they've said a lot how they're trying to bring back more depth to the inventory, weapons and armor customization and all that, but none of those things are the kind of thing that makes for an exciting and jazzy E3 trailer

@TheDarkWayne That's true. I was mostly talking about the story and storytelling elements though, which were way better in ME1 than in its sequel, imho. You do make a valid point regarding what's relevant in an E3 trailer and what's not, so from a pure gameplay perspective, I guess we'll see.
I'm still worried for the story element of the RPG side of things though.

@Torticoli I've spent like half an hour trying to write a reply to this, and the more I think about it, the more I agree with you and the more worried I get. Mass Effect 1 had a really unique cinematic feel to it, even if it might have only come through in the cutscenes. Particularly, the post Udina betrayal, the final Ashley romance scene, and the descent to Illos. They had a really engaging feel to them, emotional, impacting, almost introspective. The more I thought about it the more I felt how Mass Effect 2 sort of lacked that.
Still though, I really enjoyed 2, and I'm very hopeful for 3. Even if it doesn't bring back quite the same feel or theme, I'm sure it will have it's own great feel. Although I actually think it will bring that feel back given how desperate the situation with the reapers is. I also think they'll be true to their word and bring back a lot of the rpg stuff, if not a similar type of inventory, then at least a lot more customization all around. I guess the best thing to say is that I'm really hopeful, and I know it'll be incredible, whatever genre it leads closest to.

@Torticoli Haha, actually I was just watching the Spike TV E3 stuff, an interview and demo with Casey Hudson, and he's talking about how they are increasing the RPG elements. He said they're bringing back more of the leveling stats, like letting you choose between several branches of a power.

@bonkbonks that's a gross oversimplification. "Only the franchise" means that all the characters, settings, weapons, concepts, design, style, whatever, were in ME1 and ME2. I get that it changed a lot, but hyperbole like that is just unnecessary

Disappointed in myself for being disappointed, but there were just some things about the trailers and demos nagging at me. First off, did Mordin sound different to you guys? He sounded like Mark Meer (Commander Shepard) using one of the extra npc voices he did in ME2, not Mordin's original actor? I can hope they just haven't gotten all the recording done and were placeholding that, but still, I worry.
More than that though, the very little variety of guns, and the unexciting and no impact feel they all had, combined with unenthusiastic and grating sound was a huge detriment to my enjoying ME2. I know they'll have more than the one they showed, but dang I really hope they all feel and sound better this time.

Dammit, I might have to do a 3rd playthrough. I literally did all the side quests and DLC and couldn't get enough renegade or paragon to save all the team members.
Even worse, I kept Samara both times and I can't stand her. Didn't realize I could get the other broad instead.

If Bioware messes this game up...then all hope for good games from them is lost forever.
Bioware, just....fix the bad points of ME2, do a way better story and characters than ME2 had, just for gods sakes, DON'T remove anything, DON'T "youngerandedgier" it and DON"T make it take place in one city for entire game :/
