Hope it's as good as the Mass Effect 1 Collectors edition. Still my favorite collectors edition to date. So much content! 500 pieces of concept art each with there own commentary track! Amazing stuff. I believe if you buy the platinum edition it comes with the same bonus disc. Worth getting if your into the art of ME1.

@MarkHawk ...did I completely miss that? I've got that and I never noticed it. If anything I thought it was a little empty, but loved the Saren metal case.

Just preordered this ME3 CE. 90 bones almost after taxes, but dammit it'll be worth it. I love this series so much I want to take it home to meet my parents this Thanksgiving and ask them to not judge me, but to support my choice of alternative lifestyle.

@MarkHawk Whoa, thanks for the heads up. I just went back and popped that in, and now I'm pretty sure I never looked at it other than to install the themes and gamerpics and trailers because I assumed all the documentaries and concept art would have a bunch of spoilers. It took so long for me to beat the game that I forgot I had set aside the lion's share of that disc for later.

I had *no* idea there was commentary on the photos either. I just sat through something like 15 minutes of a guy talking about 18 concept art photos of the Asari, and I still have about 600 pictures to go. Pretty damn awesome. It's going to take me a few days to get through this stuff now. Thanks!

@onan I just want more games to do this. Wish more people knew about good special editions and not just the ridicules ones. Glad I could get one more person to check it out. :D

@MarkHawk My ME1 Collector's Edition only came with one disk. I've tried over the years to fill that empty slot in the case, but never could find one.

Second.

Every time I see Sheploo on promotional stuff, I always wonder who the hell that is, since he is clearly not Commander Shepard.

Oh no, it's not "your" Shepard.
It's just the Shepard that appears in every trailer, advertisement, and piece of game footage they release.

Was hoping for so long they would include an N7 Helmet. I would throw so much money at them for it. Although, $80 for this. Seems like a pretty damn good deal to me.

I normally find collectors and special editions gratuitous and filled with largely unnessecary stuff. This, however, is incredibly appealing.

@evilkoala It really doesn't matter anymore, there's a mod free way to convert your PC saves to Xbox and vice-versa. Look up Epic Legion save editor if you wanna see it, it's very comprehensive and you can change all the ME1 plot flags(and fix Conrad Verner!)

To be honest, I was weighing, "AWESOME FULL FRAME RATE ACTION AND GRAPHICS" vs. "Kinect voice commands and avatar prop."

Wait, let me get this straight: I can stop wishing that the PC version had all of the nifty bells and whistles that the Xbox 360 Collectors Edition has by converting my ME2 saves to the XBox?

This is possible?

I don't think that would actually be confirmed yet... For all we know some form of steamworks will be included (although that's doubted with the whole EA Origins crap that's starting...).

I feel like Collector's editions have been less and less worthwhile lately. Way too many statues and CE's coming in at $100 or more. But THIS is a good deal. Nicely done Bioshock.

Doesn't look like there is any "extra characters", just some character costumes for Liara and a male human, most likely the new human male character.

it even says so in the press release.
"This includes in-game appearance packs, a digital version of the Dark Horse Comic Book, a digital version of the art book, an exclusive extended soundtrack, a digital version of the exclusive lithograph and the N7 Arsenal Pack"

Be careful if you preorder this on the EA store using paypal. I didnt want to enter my credit card only to forget about it nearly a year from now, so I used Paypal with another account. The thing is though, it pulls the money now. So they get to make interest or whatever off of it for the next few months while I certainly dont get my ME fix any sooner :(

Oh look. More DLC they charge you for at the very release. $20 for an extra character? How about I jnot buy the game till it and all the DLC drops to $30, like I did with Dragon Age? EA, one of the few companies that gets away with selling you chunks of a completed game.

At this rate, I suppose it'd just be wiser to give up gaming. Kinda know how they felt back in 1983 when Atari dropped the ball and Nintendo had to pick it back up...

"an extra downloadable mission, character and weapon pack and a robotic dog to "to keep you company on board the Normandy.""

HAHAHA. I was considering buying it, but now I'm just going to pirate this crap. The collector's edition isn't giving you extra collector's items; they're taking out parts they've already made more than half a year before the game ships and forcing you to pay extra for it. They learned absolutely NOTHING from DA2. It doesn't help that they're hyping the game as Mass of Effect 3 and the one single RPG element they talk about is "you can evolve powers multiple times now".

It's so utterly, utterly repulsive that a bunch of people actually want to throw their money away on this. Thank you for ruining video games by praising developers and publishers when they jam a spiked club up your backside.

I bought the first game. I bought the Collectors' Edition of the second game. But at least I have the brainpower to jump ship when the captain is pumping water into it.
