Halo 4? Halo: Combat Evolved ... Anniversary? Wait ... Halo 4?! Allegedly, these titles (and more) were revealed by Microsoft itself, hours ahead of its 10AM (PT) press conference, on the company's E3 community site. NowGamer supposedly spotted the posting, which has since been removed by Microsoft, but not before a mess of details were loosed. Among them: news that "Halo 4 is on the way."
A scene from the end of Halo 3 prefaces the news, which also teases "but that's not all." As we reported back in February, a Halo: Combat Evolved "remaster" is also apparently in the pipeline. The image says nothing beyond the game being "remastered for a new generation," and dubs it "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" -- just in time for the ten year anniversary of Halo 1's original launch in November of 2001. We've reached out to Microsoft for comment, but we imagine we won't hear anything back until Microsoft's official presser in a few hours.

i would hope that they would add more to the "remaster" then just updated graphics? I mean its been a while but i still can remember how some of the levels play out. "Remix" the levels some to keep it fresh for those that have done it.

As long as the level "The Library" is completely redone and made SHORTER, I'm a happy camper.
While their at it, I wouldn't mind an easter egg of a redone "Cortana" level from Halo 3. Worst. Halo Level. EVER.

I really hate when people ask to make the Library a shorter level. When you play Halo: CE the first time, that level is intense and nerve-wrecking and INTENDED to be grueling. On multiple playthroughs it doesn't hold up because you know what's coming, you're used to the Flood, and it just becomes a slog. But there's a reason that the Library is the way it is. And I don't think they should change it. It wouldn't feel the same at all...
...also, Cortana SUCKED.

Perhaps you're right. 10 years ago I wasn't the greatest Halo player and sucked royally at that level. I just remember getting SUPER frustrated playing it on legendary.
But still...I don't want to relieve the grind.

No you see, the level was boring because it was the same room over and over.
a more vied layout, with a better scare/dread factor would be needed.
Halo one...well, was not a good single player game. Multiplayer was where it shined, although lacking online at launch really hurt it.

Not gonna say I predicted but....... no I am, totally spot on, unless its not for the next gen XBOX then Im a wee bit wrong.
Id be disappointed if it wasnt a launch title for the next box, considering the poor frame rate and the feeling that Reach basically pushed the 360 to its limits in terms of big sandbox shooters.

Dude, I think your 360 is busted. I had zero framerate issues.
Remove your system from any cubbies and leave like 6 inches at least around it to breathe. You're either over heating or broken.

Didnt mean to draw too much attention to that, its just something I notice when playing Campaign or shifting over to Call of Duty.
Im definetly a bigger Halo fan, but the drop in frame rate is pretty noticeable to me, a little unfair considering Halo has a much more complex world to render being a sand box but yeah I would like to see the next Halo not be held back by the limits of current gen tech when its probably not coming out for another 1-2 years anyway.

I think you're mixing things up. Reach and CoD both have a smooth 60 fps, meaning the framerate is exactly the same. Most games in this day are all 60 fps, its become a standard because its achievable and not noticable to the naked eye. What you're noticing is that Halo is actually SLOWER than CoD, which is true. this doesnt make Halo worse, just a fact. CoD games are very high paced, and between movement speed, weapon exchanges and whatnot, everything is just faster on the norm in CoD. It's just a frame of reference your brain translates Halo as slower, so maybe thats why you think its a less framerate.

He's right and wrong... The framerate in Reach is rock solid, 90 percent of the time. There are occasions, however, when there is a noticeable framerate drop. Usually this is when there is too much going on the game has to render...
If you don't believe me, check the end of the level ONI Sword Base. When you have to take down the banshees on the landing with all the elites (the VERY end of the level), there is a prevalent lag when you look out over the open world.

I also had frame rate issues with Halo Reach but I had to take that with a grain of salt. I ran it on a newer 360 Slim and I had the Halo Reach Beta disk for the xbox live update.

huh, that sounds about right, I felt the same when coming back to Halo:CE after playing Halo 2 all those years ago.
Everything just seemed much slower, but as you explained you do get used to it after a point.

I do not see Halo being slower as a problem. Not everyone drinks adrenaline for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I don't need to be warping through a game and respawning in 0.05 seconds.

As a Halo fan I wouldn't exactly say I've been 'waiting' for Halo 4. Reach is less than a year old, and probably has a few more map packs on the way.

Hardcore gamers as in non-casual, or as in FPS? There are plenty of Xbox exclusives left to continue with that aren't casual.
Fable, Forza, Ninety Nine Nights, Supreme Commander, Crackdown, MechWarrior, Perfect Dark; Left 4 Dead. I mean you're only talking about removing Halo and Gears - Either way, exclusives really have died off this generation. Budgets are too large to make system exclusive titles, hence at most there have been timed-exclusives or DLC timed-exclusives (GTA4, Fallout 3).
Anyways, I have no doubt that until the next generation that gears will be a 2 year cycle, and halo will be annual. Too much money at stake. Especially since 343 has only put out one title so far, you know they got a few more in them. Just hoping they leave Master Chief out of it and introduce a new hero.
