So are they going straight for the iPad? I'm so confused by this console/device/thing.

@Captain Planet Planeteer Power I have to agree after thinking about your comment for a moment. I wonder who are they targeting.

Ok, this looks like it does a lot. How much is this controller BY ITSELF going to cost me?

Wait, so is THIS the console or just the controller? Either way, it seems we were wrong. Nintendo did stuff up. I think this is a horrible abomination of a mistake. PLEASE NINTENDO, I beg that you go back to the drawing board.

I guess Nintendo never thought the iPad would give them trouble.

I'm so confused. It's cool, but is it the new console? And from the videos they're showing, does some sort of addon allow HD?

"Hi, Nintendo here. Remember when we said to drop the controllers, gather around the TV, and just play? Well, now grab a giant controller, turn off the tv, and become a hermit."

I'm excited for this on a level that can be described as "not".

I can see what nintendo is aiming for. A life experience. You go to your house, start gaming, then have to elave and continue with your tablet. You get bored and you browse the internet or video chat on it.
You know, an all around gadget. Kind of like how sony did with the ps3. Its kind of like a psp+ps3.

This reminds me of the controller with a full sized keyboard in the center. This thing is going to cost a mint. What audience are they aiming for?

I'm more interested in the form factor of this than the 3DS. Can't wait to see the screen up close.

I have to admit that I'm really intrigued by the idea of a controller like this. Seems like a ton of nifty features could be implemented. It's probably the only thing Nintendo has done in 5 years that has genuinely captured my interest.
The question of course is always implementation. All the potential in the world doesn't result in excellence.

None for what I've seen from Nintendo makes sense. More focus an a tablet/controller, the name Wii U, no actual games to show for this new system that was supposed to be the main attraction yet hardly seen. Better yet how much is any of this cost? Where are the system specs? Why make a tablet/controller backward compatible with a bunch of Wii games not wanted to play anyway?
Can you imagine trying to buy more tablet/controllers? Put the system with no specs in a box with 4 tablet/controllers and call it the Wii StUpid bundle...
EPIC FAIL!

I honestly think nintendo has the business antics to be the next apple. Constantly releasing portable variants every year or so, then popping out a tablet like creation that is almost no better than its portable relatives.
The only difference seems to be nintendo aims to destroy parent wallets based on child hype.
Seriously why throw your sources into this kind of market when you SHOULD be improving what you already have, and no not improving only cosmetics like they enjoy to do so much, but lets work on some graphical improvement, maybe some actual ability to play dvds, you know? Make your system actually worth a damn.
end rant\

Why are the analog sticks ABOVE the buttons? At best this will require some re-training, at worst there is a very good ergonomic reason that it's typically the other way around.

IF this thing can video chat with the 3ds, then I would be one happy camper.. Otherwise what started out looking and sounding ridiculous, is starting to show rather interesting...
