Sounds good to me.
Its not meant to be like the other RE games, that's what revelations is bringing to the table.
I just hope we see nemesis somewhere in it, the game is still sounding pretty great to me from other previews I've read.

I really hope the next main RE(6) entry go back to horror, but after seeing this and RE5, I know that won't happen.

Why not take it a step further and make it Survivor Horror? Y'know, just like how the series was originally intended.

Of course, going with the original wouldn't make nearly as much money since the new-age gamer wouldn't be able to have an easy time with it. Complaints such as, "I don't have enough ammo!" would surely surface (because it's too hard to dodge zombies/dogs/hunters, amirite?).

The series has definitely become a joke.

As a fan of the earlier games, I'm very disappointed. The last true RE game released was RE Code Veronica, after that, the series went after shooter fans and never looked back. Operation Raccoon City even have a guy that cloaks, I was like...WTF?

The RE game I'm most looking forward is Code Veronica HD, I'm not even sold on Revelations yet, cause from what I seen, is just like Lost in Nightmares DLC, you have a strong monster (forgot the name) coming after you and it's dark, that's not enough, I want zombies, hunters, cerberus and even giant spiders. Don't get me wrong, LiN was awesome, but it didn't have the enemies or the sound effects/music of a survival horror RE game, lightning alone doesn't cut it.

Seeing as its not a typical Resident Evil game =( and seems to be similar to Left 4 Dead, which I play everyday on my PC, does this game have a versus mode similar to Left 4 Dead?

or at least a versus mode that requires a lot of teamwork, like Left 4 Dead?

If it does and it is good; I am SOLD!! (I'll just ignore the Resident Evil name in the title and just call it, Operation Raccoon City.

Now you do realize that these are all pretty iconic characters from the resident evil series, so if anything, this is where left4dead got their own inspiration.

@Smoofy yeah, I like how them using a tank is stealing from left 4 dead, even though Tyrants have been in RE for a long time... As well as "lickers" who have been in since Resident Evil 2..

@roarkkokoro Exactly. Now, if they add a zombie that is fat, and burps, well, then we might have a problem.

A Licker? From 1998? Is this series new to you?

They didn't really say RE stole the idea, just that its probably implemented similarly to L4D in this game.

It's there in short demo form, and so far it's been nothing but good things.
Especially since it's going back to horror roots.

Well Capcom already made a 4-player co-op Resident Evil game before. Resident Evil Outbreak was pretty fun.

@Tommy758 Fun indeed.

What sucked about it, however, was that there wasn't any voice communication (aside from the pre-defined ones), so if you're playing on Very Hard (or whatever the heck the highest difficulty was in Outbreak #1), discussing the strategy in the lobby was key....

...but didn't exactly mean you'd beat whatever stage you're doing, haha. Really, you have no idea how many times I've played, "Decisions, Decisions" on VH, only to realize later on that 1-2 guys couldn't handle their sector -- myself and someone else would already have completed ours, but.. the remaining (usually the duo, which was weird) would, I guess, die..? LOL.

Yeah, lots of scrubs playing that game on VH :) Fun times.

Sounds like a lot of fun.
I wish they'd bring Outbreak back even in just a quick HD port of 1 and 2. Voice chat was really the only thing lacking, playing it now would be tons of fun. Game was so ahead of it's time.

I don’t think there would be any problem selling a true Resident Evil in this day and age. All it takes is advertising and loose critics. I want a real survival horror game too. I do not think the addition of multiplayer would hurt it. Infact, I would like it to use some ideas fro, the failed mmo and do them right. It would be cool to become a zombie if your character croaked. Left4 Deads infected vs human mode is great and an RE mode would be a no brainer.

To be honest Outbreak is very very different from left 4 dead.
It's a lot more than just 4 people killing zombies together in outbreak.

Cinematic was dynamic, interesting, kept my attention, watched twice.
Judging by this, the gameplay will be: Stilted, slow paced, predictable, and full of pointless Timed events. New characters just means there are more people who will spew and do nonsensical things, just like they do in all the other RE games.

@Jawmuncher The Capcom-unity videos? Yeah.
Did not impress.
Resident Evil is falling to the sidelines by ignoring or failing to implement a standard fair of game play mechanics or conventions.
Typical zombie AI can't be faulted, but the human AI is terrible, the "ACTION CAM HIGHLIGHTING THE SAME MELEE FINISHER YOU'VE JUST USED THREE TIMES ZOMG" returns.
Game needs new blood, just because the franchise has been successful doesn't mean, in my opinion, they should be resting comfortably on their laurels and letting it dwindle hoping to sell on name alone.
I suppose I could be happy they didn't fake the game play video with footage recorded from another company's product.

'ORC is, after all, a four player co-op zombie shooter, featuring a variety of zombie types that largely resemble what both Left 4 Dead games featured before it... a zombie who scurries on the ceiling and reels you in with his tongue'.

You mean the lickers? But they've been around since RE2 in 1998. They're just basing the monsters on the ones that have popped up over the series.

Why do you keep using quotations on bio-organic weapons? From what I garnered from playing RE games is that they are just that, and the "zombies" are the effect of people who have been exposed to the T-Virus and were nicknamed zombies by others due to the similar characteristics of the concept of a zombie. http://residentevil.wikia.com/Tyrant_virus and http://residentevil.wikia.com/Zombie
The T-Virus did indeed create bio-organic weapons and from what I make out of it, the tank-like and tongue zombies maybe are the Tyrants and Lickers respectively, both creatures that came way before Left 4 Dead.

Being a fan of the all caps SOCOM: CONFRONTATION it seems to me the only problem is the ammo.
On easy give shooting fans an infinite amount. Normal give players a few points in each level to restock ammo. Hard give them two. Impossible give them either one at the half way point or none at all.

Hmm I was hoping for a horror/survival/military version of left 4 dead with a realistic approach in the Resident Evil universe in this game. I guess hopes aren't always in sync with reality.

Going from day 1 buy to a 'maybe buy after looking at reviews'

I think it's a bad thing when I find myself rooting for the guy that's being chased by the character I'm going to be playing as.

I hope these characters are at least a little likable. So far I just see them as assholes trying to kill my favorite RE character..
