Yeah, the second they get a black protagonist (a brotagonist, if you will) we find out he's a criminal. Did this fictitious black man also drive your car into the lake with your two baby boys still inside?

The majority of Atlanta's population is black. It's more likely that the character would be black regardless of societal status. And if you read the comic, you know that two of the four inmates they come across are black. Racist? No. Statistically accurate? Yes.

I think you're racist because you assume that because I play video games that I also read comics.

@Assmar A black man made it as a main character as a game, AND doesn't have an afro or dreads? Prisoner or not, if they don't have him playing the role of "Stereotypical thug" I'm counting that as a win, dammit.

Then why call it The Walking Dead? I mean, The Walking Dead is a particular story, with specific characters and plot elements. If you aren't going to follow those elements or deal with those characters, what's the point? Unless you're just trying to build interest in yet ANOTHER zombie game by using the name of a well-loved comic.

@Jomolungma I disagree. Kirkman created a universe that's pretty interesting beyond just Grimes' experience in it. This is a good way to explore that universe without screwing with Kirkman's original narrative. But I will agree with you if the game has things like mages or laser rifles in it.

Well, it's within an established world with established characters and 'rules' about how the zombies act. The Walking Dead 'world' is not exactly like other zombie worlds out there. It has a particular and bleak outlook on the world. I don't think it is unfair to have other characters within this world and see what their stories are.

The Walking Dead is most certainly not a specific story with specific characters and plot elements. The AMC series (which is fantastic by the way) veered in a completely different direction from the comics. The difference in story, characters, etc. throughout different media is something that Kirkman wants, and is purposefully doing. He pretty much says this (though not in regards to the game) in the letters column at the back of one of the recent issues of Walking Dead.

You make a good point. However, art isn't necessarily what the artist says it is, it's what the audience determines it to be. For me, personally, I've always connected The Walking Dead to Grimes's story. When the AMC series deviated from that story in significant ways, I felt like it was no longer The Walking Dead. I have no problem if this is a world where other stories occur, but then call it something else, subtitled "A Walking Dead Story" or something like that. That way people will know it is not Grimes's story, but takes place in that world. I just think it isn't clear and Telltale might be taking advantage of that.

That makes sense.

I guess I feel that, while Grimes has been the main character in the comics for the most part, Kirkman could very well kill Rick at any point. I wouldn't be surprised if he did this for issue 100.

I now have to hide from this thread to avoid possible spoilers :|

Hey guys, just wondering what the source on this is?

Did this info come from an interview you did with the devs or is it something that's been dropped by a press release?

Either way it's really great to see some info finally dropped, we get to see Telltales Jurassic Park at this E3 as well - let's see how they handle non-point and click shall we!

I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm not anti-zombie. Really, I like zombies.

With that said is it possible that the industry could maybe give them a rest for a while? I mean hell, just because they're undead doesn't mean they wouldn't like a day off now and then.

@baddates77 I might agree if this wasn't based on one of the best representations of zombie and those who deal with them that there has arguably ever been.

Developers played out zombies, but bringing this license into play kind of transcends that.
