And to think, I was down voted on a previous article for claiming it was pseudo-360. I should play the lottery tomorrow!

Anyway, I await the *actual* footage and the usual battery of tests before I decide to drop another undervalued US dollar on anything Nintendo, console-wise.

You should always do this with gaming consoles anyway. Those lovely bricks and their software aren't cheap enough to throw money at. Never were unless you bought used or 6-months down the line for the games.

It's understandable. I'm just glad the Zelda tech demo was real time. Anything as good as that or better is perfectly fine in my book.

I think when the smoke clears people will think.........wait so 1 release for Wii? Lots of announcements for DS3D. Promises for the new console and...... no love for the current one?

Yup. When the smoke clears, all that remains is a middle finger for now "legacy" hardware while the current one is in development.

A controller with a screen isn't some fancy new concept. Every single handheld system dating back to the Game & Watch was basically a controller with a screen.

The Wii U is nothing new, it's just the lower part of a DS.

Stop complaining all of you.

@John Deadly I totally agree... I was really excited about it yesterday and then when i started to think about it it just stunk of another Nintendo console. All the games they announced for the Wii U are coming out on the consoles almost a year before it even comes out... so you're telling me I get to play year-old ports of games I could play on my PS3 that likely won't be the definitive versions, seeing as developers probably won't have the grasp of the system, if it's even better than the others? Sorry but Nintendo blew a lot of smoke yesterday, it's a cool tech but MS and Sony could easily match it. Watch Sony come out and make the Vita even more compatible with the PS3, like how the EA guy was saying you could play madden on it.

Yes. Are you saying that none of these announced games are at least" solid?" Granted the footage wasn't Wii U footage, but I have no doubt these games will look at least the same if not better than the other console versions.

@iAlejandro Nope. Just one look at the 3DS lineup should convince anyone of that. Mario, Luigi, Kid Icarus, Pokemon, etc is where Nintendo's bread is buttered. People aren't going to buy a Wii U to play 3rd party games.

See that's kind of the issue I'm having with this console... The whole presentation seemed to show that it was Nintendo finally opening back up to third party developers (like they were tired of missing out on the games on the 360/PS3), and that's exactly what they DON'T need! I think Nintendo has built their name on their exclusives, and to be honest, even though I'm not interested in the 3DS, I really thought it had a good show with all the games shown for it.

I know for me I want my games on my PS3/PC, where my whole "online persona" resides (trophies, friends, that type of stuff). I don't want to have to split that between another console...

If there's anything we learned from Nintendo Keynote is that they're learning from Sony and Nintendo how to lie to audiances to get them hyped up. What they basically did was the same as Sony did with the CG'd Killzone 2 footage. It's not really what the system can do and those images may not even be representative of the quality in the end. And You know, I'll say it again all they did was create a DS... again. The issue here is how many developers are going to put the effort into redesigning their 360 and PS3 game to fit the uses the new (and probably uber expensive) controller offers in the same way the DS has been treated. Sure when there are 60 million DS units it's easy to kick out a few titles that cater to it (especially when it only takes a few second tier developers to do ports) But now you;ll be asking those developers to not only handle 3DS and DS ports but also code menus and fancy second screen stuff for the U. GOOD LUCK, Sony couldnt even get developers to add extra stuff to Bluray games that had 20 or 30 extra gigabytes of space for 4 years!

I thought the Joystiq crowd loved Nintendo games? So many haters here.

I have a Wii for one reason... Nintendo's games. You can't get them anywhere else. Third party devs get the most support from Microsoft and Sony, so if I want to play third-party games, I'll get a PlayStation or Xbox system.

That really is how my video game process has been forever, have a nintendo for their first parties and then either an xbox or ps3 depending on your taste primarily for the third parties (for me 360.) Then you'll have the occasional roommate with the opposite system and you hurry and play all those exclusive, it's the perfect world.

The real question is what if nintendo will be able to take care of my third party needs?

@tendoboy1984 That's exactly the reason I don't have a Wii. Nintendo's games have never appealed to me, even when I was a kid.

They'll have to get some major 3rd-party support, with some exclusive titles, before I go anywhere near this gimmick-laden system.

I don't see the point in Nintendo matching or surpassing PS3/360 visuals if they're just going to keep rehashing the same tired old games they've been churning out since 1983. They're supposed to be the pinnacle of gaming originality - it's about time they showed it, rather than another endless stream of Mario and Donkey Kong clones.

Until that time, I don't see that any 'core' gamer will feel the need to switch from their PS3/360.

You make it sound like the 360 & PS3 don't have any amazing first party games to speak of. Having amazing first party doesn't mean you can't still have lots of support from 3rd parties. MS & Sony have shown you can do both exceedingly well.

I guess my point is ... why would you have to choose in the first place when you can have both options available to you?

Nintendo's first party games used to be worth buying a system over, but now that we've played the same thing 298347298743 times I'm not sure I would even buy them if I had the system any more.

Freaking Madden has changed more in the last 10 years than most of Nintendo's first party games have. When can we start applying the term "roster update" to every new Zelda/Mario/Mario Kart game?

I heard from a developer at NIS that developer companies get the console early. Something like this is hard to deal with, sure, but at least they get a headstart.

Sometimes they get hardware which is similiar to the console's specs. For the XBox, I think, the early dev kits were pc's locked down to the specs of the system. And the GameCube dev kits used removeable hard drives to store the games so devs would always have load times to deal with, reminding them to take them into account when developing a game, instead of having the game data on a large flash memory, with almost no loading time.

I want a Wii U so bad...Take my Money Nintendo!

AMD already confirmed to their investors and the media, that they are powering the graphics for the Wii U. It fits the rumor correctly too. The graphics chip is most likely based off a high end AMD Radeon HD 4xxx series graphics card, which easily puts anything the PS3 and 360 to shame.

Anyways, stop Nintendo hating people...
