Though still presented under a working title, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is one of the first third-party games to be announced for Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console. Fumihiko Yasuda, lead on Ninja Gaiden 3, told Joystiq that Razor's Edge would be based on next year's Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, but would offer some changes beyond the addition of a subtitle.
"Ninja Gaiden 3 for PS3 and 360 is the base of the Wii U version," Yasuda said during an E3 meeting. "Of course, we understood that we would need to implement a particular gameplay experience with Wii U, so we are studying what we can do with that console. We're thinking of different modes and different combat action -- something different."
While Team Ninja attempts to figure out the best, ultra-violent uses for Nintendo's controller-screen hybrid, it remains in the planning stages for a 3DS Ninja Gaiden game (announced at E3 2010). As it's so early in development, Yasuda could only suggest that it "may not be a sequel to Dragon Sword."

Hopefully they don't implement that corny ninja star thing they showed in the Wii U preview...

You know... all the people on here slamming Wii U for showing off demos of games running on PS360 builds, and joking about how the graphics are only on par with those current gen consoles:
I'm going to be laughing my ass off when PS4/720 get announced at next years e3 and the graphics look like.... well ps360. In 1080p. Just like Wii U.

@Co Uh... Why would they announce new hardware that's exactly the same as their existing hardware?
Let's be honest. Only one platform holder has ever been accused of releasing a new console that's just two of their old consoles duct taped together, and it wasn't Microsoft or Sony.

@Timjoy Back on topic, is anyone else worried this is going to be terrible? Even with Itagaki was at Tecmo, Team Ninja only ever released games on one platform because the group simply wasn't that big, and they didn't have the manpower to port titles over other consoles.
Now Itagaki is gone, and the manpower at TecmoKoei has been increased thanks to the merger (or buyout, depending on how you look at it). I'm a little worried Ninja Gaiden is going to incorporate a little too much Dynasty Warriors DNA, both in gameplay ease and genericness. That fear was bad enough when we knew about two platforms, but now that it's three...
Yeah, I don't have high hopes for this one. Fingers crossed, though.

A tad off-topic, but for the Assassin's Creed game on Wii U, I got compelled at the idea that Ubi could use the idea seen in the WIi U's trailer , where you toss shurikan stars on the controller and it flies toward its target on the TV screen. This could be used for long-distance knife kills seen in the first AC.
Ah? Ah?

@Shadowbender umm.....nooooo. I rather push a button and it would be too weird using the touch screen on the tablet to throw knives.

I hope they are able to utilize the controller in a useful way, and not just stupidly tacked on.

@ShokLoc It has potential to do some cool stuff, but I guess that in 99% of all games it will just be used for mini maps or inventory.

Hopefully they adapt the control scheme to something simpler, for better use on that awkward controller.

They do this for the ps3/360 when showing off games so its not surprising, the developer wants people to see the version that looks the best so they use that when advertising on both consoles. The fact that we dont know if it was the PS3 version OR the 360 version says it all. Although it does make for a poor demo for a new console when you cant show anything running on the actual hardware.

I hope that means that the Wii U's version would be better than the Ps3/360s seeing as how the tech is 5 years more advanced.
If this system brings Nintendo to graphical parity with the other 2 I would think it's a disappointment.
I still think we'll know more at Next E3. This was all sizzle and no steak.

It's the same as usual. Has everyone already forgotten that when they showed off the 'Revolution' they didn't give us anything. Nut'n honey. It was just a white box. The next E3 was when we finally got to see the goods and this will be the same.

Well if you advance the Wii graphic technology by 5 years, you will probably get something from 2007. I think they need quite a bit to bring the graphics up to par with today and then exceed what is out there. You know that Microsoft's and Sony's next gen consoles are going to be pretty graphically sweet based off today's PC games.
Nintendo needs to step up to the plate in all areas of the hardware.. Heck, even DVD playback would be a big boost for them. Good built-in storage capacity would go a long way too.

Yeah but in the meantime, all we got is a few 3Ds games and a Link game for x-mas. That is really what they showed us today at E3 because Wii U is only going to be launching next spring which is 11-12 months from now (I'm sure they are not going to launch on March 21st). They really screwed their user base this year for giving us stuff over the next 12 months.

Yes, but you're bringing up a different topic altogether with what Nintendo are offering this year for Wii owners. That wasn't what we were discussing.

Nikkei is claiming it'll launch late 2012.
I'm going to make an assumption, rightly or wrongly, that the US will see it for the Xmas 12 season. Probably late September.

Put all the inventory there. Easy access. I'd like that. I'd love that in future COD's too.

The WiiU is playable at E3 guys. I stood and watched many people playing a dew different games. What you see is currently what you get. Tekken had a video demo running in which the player drew on the character's face using the controller screen, which is something I am positive they have running on a WiiU and was that from which this video was grabbed - not a video of it running on another console. It was at least as good-looking as the current generation of consoles; however, none of it exceeded the current gen, either. I asked about the disk media used on the console, and I was told it was a secret still. Just hang tight, but don't doubt that the WiiU is a real thing with real in-game content being shown and played.

Pretty much this. Puts a big damper on the whole "more 3rd party support!" thing, but I guess it's to be expected. More often than not multiplatform 3rd party devs are lazy as hell. They stick to one platform (usually the 360) then copy pasta code and go "LULZ WE'RE MULTIPLATFORM AND SO DIVERZE". I don't see why this would be any different.

Assuming the Wii U is as powerful as its said it is, its going to suffer the same fate and the PlayStation 3 has had to endure for so many years. The Wii U is only going to truely shine from its first-party which is great! because its going to force the first-party to get into gear like Sony's has with the PS3 and like Nintendo previously did with the Cube and 64. Grandparents, mothers and kids aren't going to flock to the Wii U like they did the Wii and the Wii U is going to end up getting ports from the Xbox 360. Not the PS3, the Xbox 360 because its going to cost more to develop for the PS3 and Wii U and port those. Then again, perhaps we will see more PS3 development getting ported to the 360 and Wii U now its supposedly the middle man. Its easier to port from the PS3 to the 360 and the PS3 is pretty dang close to the Wii U, supposedly, so its would be easily done that way. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise for the PS3 but the Wii U is gonna get the shaft by third-party just as the PS3 has for so many years. But again, it will force the first-party for Nintendo to flex muscle.
