I actually liked the Wii version.
The low-res, low LOD look really went well with the simple, old-school gameplay.

except for the fact that wii players played this years ago, and have already played the sequel. Other than that wii version is shit compared to this.

@DekuTree I think it's just because it's resolution sucks, it gets artifacts... It doesn't seem like any of that's intentional.

@Crayola Q Pants ESQ

The game is cheesy and over the top. It keeps things interesting enough to suffer through the pointless open world which I guess is a meta joke but it is never funny and really tedious navigating a bike around to go to a ATM machine for no reason. They should just remake the game where you go straight to the different missions.

In NMH2 they eliminatd the open world, and made you go to each mission by selecting them on a map.

That made the game feel shorter, and eliminated the tediousnes of doing those secondary jobs to get money in order to enter the next mission. But, the elimination of the open world, made the game feel kinda different from the first one.

This is the test. Unless this game sell like gangbusters on the PS3 then third-parties have to admit that their best Wii efforts are by and large extremely niche.

Well, the JP release of Heroes' Paradise (PS3/360) kinda bombed there... The PS3 version sold a few thousand less than the Wii version, and the 360 far less. Though, the Wii version didn't catch on in Japan, either.

The US/EU release of Heroes' Paradise (PS3) has some stuff not in the JP version (mainly the support for Move), and is being re-released in Japan with the subtitle Red Zone Edition.

@BPMOmega XBL PSN Steam The Wii version was a heartbreaking bomb when it was released in Japan. Poor Suda 51 had like a million extra rolls of branded toilet paper leftover after the launch.

But then, outside of Japan, it went on to be his best selling game ever. Happy ending!

I would imagine that unless the motion controls are super awesome that the game will remain a poor seller which means the US version is just them trying to make a little more money on a bargain bin title... on the other hand they DID make a second one in japan... So maybe they had anticipated the sales.

That was what you guys said about every 3rd party Wii exclusive that under performed at retail (pretty much all of them) ... Realistically, how many copies are you expecting this game to sell? It's pretty freaking old. So are you saying if sales are say ... double that of the Wii that it was the previous platforms fault and not the game? Whats the number that unequivocally proves it was the Wii install base and not the game?

Even before a game released ... if someone said its sales would prove one way or another if the problem is the platform or the game someone (usually Mr. Khan or Samfish the banned troll) would preemptively shoot that down before the game even released.

How many copies did the game sell originally? I'm guessing probably 700,000 - 1,000,000 worldwide. I doubt the PS3 version will double those numbers but it can probably sell similarly.

I still remember Conduit 2 being one of the worst selling games ... I think it was less than 100,000 copies world wide. Ouch.

Uh, of course the PS3 version is going to look better? Did anyone honestly think the PS3 one would look worse?

I'm not a troll, or trying to start anything, I'm a declared Nintendo fanboy, but I love Sony too (except their staff, the Sony CEO is a jerk IMO and Jack Tretton (I think that's his name) is a prick) but any HD enhancement over a Wii version of ANY game will look better.

@VanillaNowah On some level it's interesting to see a comparison. It's very stylized, I was interested in seeing how much they really bothered to improve it.

It's not a surprise that it's better, but I was never clear on if they were just HDifying the game or actually improving any polygon counts, etc.

I don't know. I own both Wii versions (first and sequel) and I recently bought the PS3 version and it made me feel sick, which has never happened to me before. Something with the upscaling or whatever.
Also I thought it was not as good and it felt dated and weird.
Still one of my favourite series ever.

IGN has a good quality video:

http://www.ign.com/videos/2007/11/30/no-more-heroes-nintendo-wii-gameplay-awesome-intro-sequence?objectid=827358&show=hi

I think you should use that vid, instead of the crappy one you found on Youtube. Yes, it says IGN on the corner, but you can paste a Joystiq logo on top of that if you want.

I wasn't talking about the games actual content, but the actual port, it was just too sickly, I can't really explain it, just too much "HD"ing to the game made it hard to watch and play.
I think part of the games charm was the SD.

Which makes zero sense. I could see them doing PS3 only in Japan, but not in the U.S. They got the release plans completely backwards. I'd prefer to have it on the 360 for achievements. I don't care too much about my trophies. Mine are pitiful compared to most PS3 owners.

Better overworld detail would actually help, though i wasn't as viciously opposed to the overworld as most who played the game (and felt that the sequel was less complete without it, though what really hurt the sequel was the lack of freelance assassination missions and the lack of entry fees)

Really when it comes down to it all they're doing is showing how much it's been upgraded from the previous version. The unfortunate part is that they used such a horrible video... Which come to think of it, Joystiq is a video games website, you guys really dont have a wii and a copy of the game to simply MAKE your own? That's kinda lazy.

The argument in a 360/ps3 vs wii argument are a lot different than a PC vs console argument. In PC vs console the argument is generally over minutia and pointless cock measuring. 360/ps3 vs wii is about how cheap and unappealing mainstream gamers see the wii and anger that something that doesnt support their type of gaming is starting to affect their world.
