Well for Kenshi, Rain, and the unannounced, there better be free skins for additional existing characters.

$5 for one character? looks like WB is jumping on the greed train. to buy all four characters separately, it cost about 1/2 of what you could buy the game for. this crap makes the CoD map pack price argument seem trivial now.

Well if you play online with your 360, you also have to pay for a Gold Live subscription. PS3 multiplayer is free, so to me they about even out. That's another way to look at it.

There's probably very few people at all out there who pay for gold just to play mortal kombat online.

So you can't really factor that into it. Otherwise you may as well include the price of PS+ in for PS3 players who pay for it.

@Tommy758 i know I am a sucker for something like this as well. In my first post, I want to expect free skins since all of this adds up to half of the game itself, but I know it will not happen. I bought a whole lot of add-ons for Luminaries and solitaire so I will do the same for this

It's a start. I'd like to see $30 games with $30-40 of additional content you can unlock on the disc. Why beat around the bush? If you want to time-delimit portions of the game to the calendar year to discourage resale just come out and do it in full effect.

@The Pork My guess both Rockstar and Midway are very North American-centric and don't care nearly as much about Playstation users due to much lower sales.

If you look at popular media any time a video game reference is used it is always with an xbox now. It is NA's console and these are both NA companies and always have been.

opinions, i am not on their marketing team.

@The Pork The logical assumption seems to be as a way of making it up to the 360 buyers for not getting an exclusive character as well. However I would think that they'd come out and say something along those lines. Who knows? Maybe they just wanted to give gamers something to talk about for an afternoon or two.

FYI, the LA Noire pass is not an Xbox 360 exclusive, the PS3 has it as well.

In regards to the Mortal Kombat pass, it kind of sucks it isn't for both consoles but it kind of evens out. Assuming this is only for the characters and nothing more, the 360 gets 4 characters for $15 while the PS3 players have to pay $20. But PS3 also has the exclusive Kratos character that obviously wont ever make it to 360 so that is probably the reason 360 players were hooked up with the pass discount.

1) Rockstar's headquarters are in New York, not LA, and they have developers all across the world. Half of their studios are overseas, and two more are in Canada.

2) The Rockstar pass isn't even exclusive, it's available for PS3.

3) Midway doesn't even exist anymore, the game was developed by Netherrealm studios which is a part of Warner Bros.

4) PS3 sales aren't as low as you think.

5) Why would they develop and exclusive PS3 character if they didn't care about the console.

There literally couldn't be more wrong things in your post.

How is it even though? PS3 users have to pay extra because they received a free exclusive character? Why not just make one of the DLC characters free and exclusive to 360 instead of penalizing PS3 users by making them pay more?

2) he asked a question I answered it.

4) Compared to last gen they are exactly as low as I think.
5) Maybe they did care and then sales didn't meet their expectations. Again, not on their marketing team.

Actually Mortal Kombat has sold more units consistently on the PS3 rather than the Xbox 360 (yes even in america).

Didn't MK sale more on PS3? I think you did the complete opposite of what the Pork was asking for. PS fans may be worst (you say) but I thin xbox fans are more delusional.

As for the pass, I think it's fair since the PS3 version got Kratos and an extra GOW based level. $4.99 is kind of steep though.

It's one think to have exclusive characters or DLC on one platform versus another, but if I want that DLC I have to pay more on one console versus another because I didn't buy it on the 360? I'm sorry but that's bullshit. I was actually looking forward to these new characters, now I won't be buying any of them.

What I've gathered from assorted forum discussions and reviews, Kratos' inclusion in the MK reboot is "meh." MK 'aficionados,' serious about winning playing other humans, do not use Kratos regularly. Having him in there is as much of a lame stunt as putting a Halo Spartan in the last DoA game.

"This is an Xbox 360-exclusive offer..."

Jeez. I wish the only exclusive content in console gaming was limited to retail titles, like Halo/Forza, Uncharted/Gran Turismo, Mario/Mario. Timed exclusivity and offering DLC free on one platform but selling it for another has gotten old. Obvs, doing business like that makes money but it keeps hammering deeper the wedge between "factions." So silly.

@Sidon MS and Sony are competitors so they are the ones creating the wedge they have no interest in everyone holding hands. Since everyone is going multiplatform now the battlefield for sales is dlc. That is microsoft's side at least. Once the dust settles we will see who is on top. Next gen is where the battle will be this one has been decided.

I hope someone important reads this.....

I love the idea of a dlc pass. The concept of paying ahead for what's going to come out is attractive bc you know you pay it once and that over time it will more than pay off. That's the whole purpose of pre-order dlc, right? To pay it all ahead of time in the hopes that the extra content will be worth it in the end? That's totally cool, and a great idea, but the execution of it, that's the problem. It feels stale and the pre-order bonuses are have too much content. When it's too much, you feel like the content should have been in the game. They should be smaller, worth "less" (like character skins that can become available later).

The inverse of the loaded pre-order is the post-game dlc. Map packs, these days, are costing up to $15, 1/4 of the total game price; and, there is no denying that the fat cats have already considered, if not already committed, to selling them for $20. That's too much money to feel worth it. I understand that there are people out there who will pay that. It is a smart way to extend the life of a title if you only play that one game. I'm just too ADD to play one game for that long.

To top it off, Mortal Kombat wants us to pay $5 per new character! And that's not even the outrageous part! The Mortal Kombat 'Season Pass' isn't even at a slight discount!?!?! Shouldn't paying up front entitle the person who actually wants those extra characters to some kind of discount? No, NetherRealms (or more likely Warner Bros.) decided against it.

Fine, it's business, I get it. But it makes us, those who have watched the gaming business evolve since the late 80's, feel forgotten. I remember when DLC on consoles first started. It has gone from something novel to detestably enveloping.

I want to play those map packs; I want those characters. I will not pay what you are asking for because you are fiscally abusing me. Gaming culture is no longer about the games. It's about add campaigns, about awareness; it's about money. Sure, the companies say it's about the experience, that the game takes seriously everything we love about them. But it's not true, that's just the marketing trying to sell you the game.

I feel like a father who's child is sick. All I want to do is fix it. I want healthy gaming back. But what can I do? The giants of the industry don't care about me, so they don't put stock in the validity of my plea. Can't anyone else see this happening? ...... Do any of you care?

Bloody hell some of you have outrageous senses of entitlement.
Would I like to pay less than 1200 MSP for four characters? Of course I would. I'd also like my other DLCs, XBLA games and tins of baked beans to cost less but until they go on offer, ain't gonna happen.

This is much more preferable to what Capcom is doing. Why? Because (with the exception of grossly unfinished Skarlet data) this isn't already on the disc and is actually NEW KONTENT. Capcom was a piss-take but this? I'm okay with this.

PS3 owners on the other hand are getting the shaft so I can sympathise with you. But not that much. Enjoy your Kratos.

(Protip: Never pay full price for your points, get discounted prepaid cards wherever possible.)

Ahhh, the good old "entitlement" argument.

Point is, Mr. Anti-Consumer, it's still a lot to pay for characters. A more reasonable price would be something like $2 per character. But this game has descended into pure greed. They said they wanted to add more arenas in the future. How much will those be? $5 for 4 arenas?

$15 is not a huge bargain.
