How can apes be so unimprisonable? It's a question for the ages, obviously, and a premise that's fueled countless games in the beloved Ape Escape series. The latest game, PlayStation Move Ape Escape (guess which peripheral it uses?), has been confirmed for PSN with a July 5 release date in the US -- it's already available in Europe -- and a demo will precede the full game on Tuesday, June 28, if you're into that whole try-before-you-buy thing. Us, we're more the impulse purchasing type.
PlayStation Move Ape Escape is a port of the Japanese game, Ape Escape: Fury! Fury!. You can check out our preview from last year's TGS show right here.

I just love the full circle-ness of this. Nintendo comes out with the analog stick and rumble, Sony steals them and makes Ape Escape 1 with it. Move comes out, which is a direct copy/paste job of the Wiimote, and finally, an Ape Escape comes out for it, and a party game no less.
Too bad, cause I love Ape Escape.

@DudeManPerson I personally couldn't believe it when sega made a console that had cartridges, buttons on the controllers, and it also used my tv for the video! What a freaking rip off of nintendo!!! Isn't there any originality in the game industry anymore!? And don't get me started on xbox stealing the online console gaming from Dreamcast...

I know right? Remember when Nintendo stole the idea of a home console? Shocking, total lack of innovation these days. Everyone should sue each other.

Dude, you have enlightened me, its only when you opened my eyes did I realise what a thieving, scummy planet we live on ¬_¬

I recommend you read the book Game Over by David Sheff. Really puts all these stealing that happened on all sides into a better perspective.

@DudeManPerson Wow you're an idiot. People use other people's ideas. It happens. In both cases you cited, we ended up with better products. So, you know, shut up.

To be honest, I haven't really enjoyed an Ape Escape since the platform on PS1 :(
Most of them have been mini games in the same vain as Rayman, I'd like to play another updated version of an Ape Escape platformer, so what if I'm an adult now? :/

I know how you feel.
I actually found a sealed copy of the original on PS1 a few months ago, could help but give it a go.
People in the house thought I was weird, but I had a blast!

This series was the first to fully utilize the twin stick controls of the Dual Shock controller on the PlayStation classic (and it was amazing), It seems only fitting that it comes to the Move. It's just a shame the company has lost its drive for innovation and the latest installment is a simple on-rails activity challenge.

I played the Japanese demo a while back. The game is terrible. Nowhere near as good as the old ones. Not that #3 was amazing either, but that's a different story.

Love this idea, I always thought Ape Escape should have been a bigger franchise then it was and this seem like an idea that can really make the franchise take off.

Here's a breakdown of the Ape Escape franchise in order from most to least fun:
1) Ape Escape on PS1
2) MGS3: Snake Eater on PS2
3) everything else...
